I bet the only ones here who never get cold on Winter rides are the Sasquatches.

Uh I'm not a Sasquatch and I don't get cold. Jennifer makes me wear my vest on the coldest mornings but I just take it off and throw it in the bushes as soon as I'm out of sight.

That is quite a finish, my Dad is in Trinidad CO visiting friends and they said it's been a real cold winter already. Not as much as you tho, hope you all can stay inside mostly @mike .

Our noaa forecast for SB mtns for tomorrow night says windchill as low as -5f, with 35-40mph winds and gusts to 60 (air temp 19). Jan 1, 45-50 gusts to 70. Yikes. I love winter, to a degree...

This little vid from close to Strawberry Peak yesterday, 6000ft, temps in the 20s and strong winds, my hands so cold I screwed up the vid record and stopped it inadvertently after 1 sec (shortest vid ever posted here?)

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

edit/add: Made it up by foot to top of Strawberry today. Temps in 40s and little wind. The snow on the ground gave some traction instead of being like ice the previous day. Nice for a one day reprieve.

Temp has been dropping all morning, 12° F now and forecast 6° at 5pm. The squirrels and rabbits don't care...badass. Wind gusts to 16mph, brr. Might have to get drunk and test winter/storm gear... o_O:cool:

If you're riding close to home, you're going to need some really good gear... The wind chill at Santiago Peak was a balmy 1 degree. I knew you could beat that in Canada.

Sunday it was nippy on Harding Truck Trail. Not many puddles, but those that were there were frozen.

For what it's worth, my trees are telling me we are having an extremely mild winter. Many deciduous in my area have not dropped their leaves, and a lot of my early spring species are pushing buds.

I drove up to Baker this morning (ditched work ;)) to meet a guy who was selling a bike that I was interested in.

The moment I got onto the 15 through RC, the wind was strong and scary. Twice, it hit me with such furry that I though I'd been hit by another vehicle. We (all of the drivers) were swerving all over in our lanes trying to maintain control. Back to back big rigs were blown over. Once I got into the actual Cajon Pass canyon, the wind backed off a bit but then the temps dropped. First it dropped quickly to 35, then 34, then 33, and on down to 31. It stayed there for a while so I thought we had seen the worst of it. Nope. When I crested the summit it rapidly dropped to 28 and it stayed there through Hysteria and Victorville. BRRRR. I got on the road early to miss the holiday traffic and for the most part, I did. When I was about 10-15 miles below Baker, there was a horrible single car accident. An older SUV had rolled several times and it was trashed badly. Two CHPs were on the scene. We met in Baker at 8:30. I rode the bike around the parking lot, we chatted a bit,we made our transaction, and then I was off headed toward home. When I passed by the scene of the accident (it was on my side of the freeway), traffic was stopping to have a look. There was now 4 CHPs and there was a mess of belongings all over the place from what came out of that SUV as it rolled. Sadly, there was a deceased man laying next to the vehicle. From the skid marks, looks like it wandered or swerved off onto the shoulder on the fast lane side and over corrected. That sent it bolting straight across and down into a sloping area where it appears to have rolled a bunch to reach where it was positioned (upright) about 30-40 feet off the highway.

Surprisingly quite pleasant in Fullerton today. Breezy enough to affect forward progress but not really windy, and lower 60s for temps. I didn't feel cold until the very end, in the shade back near the car, and that because I had actually worked up a good sweat. Great day to ride.

What is best way to find out if a park is open for riding? Looking at OC Parks webpage is worthless. The alerts don’t help much either. Thanks
