A little shower tiling for my friend @kioti . 1" floated mortar bed, first 36" will be white subway tile, everything above will be carrera marble to match the shower floor. All you backer-board or concrete board peeps look away because you won't understand :)

In progress photos when they look crappy so the final version looks awesome.

"Wait!" you say. "What's up with the custom tile cuts by the shower dam?"

    "Oh you mean like this?"

A woodworker doing tile work... it's too simple :)

That was the only work that I subbed. I had to shift the drain in the slab so it is centered in the new shower, but after I roughed in the shower dam I brought in the experts to hot mop the shower pan. Everything else is 100% me :)

If you Google "remodeling porn" this is the first image you will find. There are others, but they aren't rated PG :)

I hope if enough people visit this thread, it will become the #1 link on Google for remodeling porn :)

    Getting close to the end...

Backsplash on the vanity, vanity mirror (already ordered), towel bars, etc.

Then it is just a question of floor rugs, pics on the wall, and we are DONE!

    Next project(s):

    (1) Repaint house interior. Replace all switches / electrical outlets. New wood baseboard throughout.
    (2) Wire new security system and cameras.
    (3) Finish exterior stucco patch and exterior paint from new window install.
    (4) New built-in seating in kitchen...

I whipped together a quick mock-up of the seat profile to make sure it will work in the space. Nothing worse than booth seating that is uncomfortable because someone did horizontal seats or (worse) vertical backs. Hard to see in the photo, but the back is exactly level with the sill on the window. My wife and daughter tried it out and I'll make a few minor adjustments for the final project, which will be paint grade hardwood with cabinetry trim. Will be painted to match the kitchen island (or) the window trim... we haven't decided yet. Seat and back will be upholstered. The corner will be a little tricky because I plan on one seating position in the corner at a 45 degree angle. Compound angles!! We love them!

By the way... in case people are wondering... this photo shows how out of plumb our walls are. It isn't my work that pulls away from the wall, but the wall that pulls away from my work.

Finished product will obviously be flush and finished to the wall, sill and baseboard. The step in the design of foot of the bench is so that I can wrap the bottom with the same 6" baseboard that I am installing throughout the house.

Why am I posting this? Because I have a tendency to procrastinate, and I figure if I post this stuff on a biking forum people will eventually call my bluff and say "hey dude - you said you were going to finish your kitchen... where is it?" :)

I forgot to post photos of the completed kitchen banquette. My wife picked out the upholstery, which of course just happened to have a huge pattern that was difficult to work with to get perfectly lined up when I was making the seats and backs. She does this to me all the time :)

Exterior paint and stucco work is done. Interior paint is done, as is most of the electrical. Spent yesterday installing about 25% of the new baseboard... until my work was stopped because I was getting a short in one of the new electrical circuits that I had had installed a year ago when we redid the kitchen. Sure enough... traced the problem back two outlets and had to tear out bad electrical work one of the workers did. As I pointed out to my daughter - any time I see electrical tape somewhere I am confident I am not going to like what I find underneath :)

No I do not. I use these guys:

    JJ Shower Door

I have used them twice and highly recommend. Jose Lemus (the owner/manager) does all the work with some assistance from his wife. There was a glitch during both projects due to bad glass - I might not have even noticed it except he pointed it out to me and returned the glass and got new panels. We're going to be using him again on our master bath remodel (coming soon). Nice guy and a hard worker.

Jose was originally recommended to me by my general contractor on another project. They use him for all their glass shower enclosures.

This week was baseboard week. 200 feet of wood baseboard, with a three-coat hand-rubbed finish, cut and installed.

Had some free time to make a walnut table for the kitchen as well:
