Is this the right time of year to go up there? Rainy?

 

I don’t think so, my son lives on the coast and says it’s rainy now, not sure about more inland.

With the right gear, the rainy days up there are surreal... Complete isolation and empty trails. Especially empty if you get off of Alpine, which is the biggest draw for the shuttle guys. My first two rides up there were in the 30s, low visibility, and it was awesome!

Either Tire Mountain or Cloverpatch... Part of the ATCA ride.

 

It's always raining in Oregon. Take a raincoat! The trails get better when wet up there...

 

Any tire recommendation for wet trails in the Pacific Northwest?

If the “next trip” is in summer ‘19 I might meet ya there.

 

Triple Compound soft rubber tires. I run E*13 Race up front and Maxxis Aggressor rear. Most everyone I know has the same combo except Maxxis DHF 3c up front.

The weather is perfect right now and the dirt is magic!

 

I'm pretty sure it is. I hope to be there.

 

Y'all gotta come up and hit some Washington dirt too! I hear Oakridge is epic. If I can pull it off, I'd love to make it to this.

My only "oh Sh!t, I brought the wrong tire" moment was with a Racing Ralph on the front my first trip. You want something with some bite!

 

And don’t hit wet roots diagonally! Either perpendicular or pop the front tire over the root and let the rear tire slip and adjust.

 

What manner of man are you who can conjure up such relevant information so quickly?!

 

Looks like a spring summer destination for me.

 

I was there on June 11th last year... And the shuttle couldn't make it to the top of the mountain, because it was snowed in. Two weeks later, a friend rode it and it was 105. Oregon is wild!

I’m thinking Oregon Timber Trail late summer, which rolls through Willamette Valley.

 

Yes, it’s possible I may be wayward, cause I’m going to visit my son and start looking for a new place to live.

 

Thank you! This was filmed this past mid June 2018. We were there for a week.The weather was perfect. Rained a bit just one afternoon,but was never cold. Hope all can take a trip with us next yr.. thank you

 

Do you have any more details on the trip you did last year? How many people went? Did you camp, stay in a hotel or get an AirBnB/VRBO rental? Did you stay in Oakridge all week or move around?

I've been up there a few times. Once in late July and twice in August. Never had an issue with weather but I also read that mosquitoes can be an issue if you get back in the deep woods on trails like Heckletooth, Bunchgrass, etc...I'd definitely be interested in meeting up there for 2-3 days before checking out some other stuff.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. We have a friend who got us a house for a week,. We had 8 friends join us. We have been to Bend which is awesome, so we decided to stay in Oakridge for the whole week. It was truly incredible.. Thank you!

 

Good call. While Bend is a much better "city", Oakridge has much better riding.
