I could be wrong but I'm thinking Cal was the original designer of the 1up rack many years ago and they have since parted ways? Like many thousands of others I really like this new design and put my name on the list about a year ago it seems. He has cited material, manufacturing and tooling delays but in reality I would guess he's waiting on some patents to be iron clad.

these are a little cheaper than the 1 up racks. I still have not bought the add on tray, the $250 price tag gets me every time.

I'm guessing they're giving you an idea of the quality of their rack by using a similar quality product in the advertising .
    Does not instill confidence.

There’s a long thread over on the other site about this rack and the delays to bringing it to market. I’ve had the 1Up rack for several years with zero issues. In fact I just ordered another add-on this week. From what I have read, this guy was the original owner/designer of the rack and sold his company and is now trying to compete with them.

Exactly!!! Until Cal actually can produce a product that’s ready to ship on demand, this new rack is essentially a concept only.

Maybe they couldn't use a name brand bike without legal problems with implied endorsement?

It was laughable as he struggled with using the original design. It’s a poor selling point to suggest his original design had so many flaws yet sold for $300+ and carried only one bike.

Yes, why show a $130 Walmart bike on a $260 rack? Use a nicer bike and edit the names using photo editing software...like Affinity Photo... or pay Adobe $53 a month...

    This is the latest model...

The only thing that would make it better, would be to have to know United to the back of a rusted out Honda Civic.

Question for all the 1UP USA enthusiasts: is anyone running the 1.25" Quick Rack version with the adaptor for a 2" hitch? If so, how stable is it?
About to pull the trigger but debating whether to save a few bucks and have the flexibility to use it on a car with 1.25" or go with the super duty that's only fits a 2" hitch (which is what I have)?

I have had my 1Up for over 2 years now. Typically it rides behind a Kia Forte with an 1.25" hitch. I've driven with two bikes all over Cali and into Utah and Colorado with no issues. I have the 2' adapter and use it fairly regularly when shuttling with my friends or on rental cars when I go to Montana/Idaho/Wyoming etc. I've never had any issues. I just check the bolt on the adapter every couple of stops, usually when I'm checking the locking mechanism. If you are concerned about the bolt, throw some pink (light-weight) lock-tite at it, but like I said, I've never had the bolt come loose.

Also have the 1.25" 1Up with 2" adapter. Have used it on my sprinter with Kuat swing away rack for thousands of miles to Oregon and Texas, through snow and sand storms. No issues at all. I have 2 bikes on it. I think the only limitation is that it's technically rated for 3 bikes max.

Meanwhile, Quik Rack or whatever they recalling it this week is STILL struggling to get their product into the hands of customers. I just received a video email this week explaining the latest delays.
