    When: Saturday, March 2, 2019
    Time: Varies
    Where: Redlands, CA
    Ride Description or Details:
Multi-surface ride. Probably 50/50 road to dirt. Some singletrack. The 100km route is typically the best, with a 100 mile, and 33 mile/55km route as well. The goal is for the routes to be shared, so everyone gets the same experience. All routes tend to average out to 1,000 ft/10 miles of climbing. Focus is on social. Plenty of racers out, but the people hanging out with friends will have the best time.

We just confirmed the date, and want to throw it out onto the spring calendar! All are invited to come out and have a good time. Family friendly, and teens/spouses that may not ride much are able to have fun on the shorter route. 100% volunteer based event, with all of the proceeds going to local land conservancies and bike advocacy groups. I hope to see some of you out there!

Now that I have approximately the right bike, who knows. Metric probably if any.

Your Sutra will be great! But there are no wrong bikes for this! Everyone is at an advantage/disadvantage at some point of the ride. People ride it (and crash) and road bikes with skinny slicks. People ride it (and crash) and full-squish enduros. I think a drop-bar 29er or road+ bike is the closest you can get to "best" bike for it, but the whole point is to just get out and ride. See some new stuff, meet some new people, probably push yourself a bit.

The metric century ride is the premier ride, so you will not go wrong by going on that one. The 100 miler (or thereabouts) is then added on to that route, while we look to cut mileage off of it for the 1/2 metric. This year's ride is going to be great, with our favorite trails on it, but the 100 miler addition is going to be pretty epic if everything falls into place!

I’m not sure, but I’ll probably sit this one out.

Usually falls the weekend after True Grit, and I’d prefer to stay in St George a couple extra days instead.

We're six months out, so a lot of potential changes, but the 100 mile route is AWESOME!!! Usually we build it off of the 60, but this year we're doing it first, and cutting it down to make the 60.

    44784845101_3f4ee303d2_o.jpg

That said, the 60 & 30 rides are intended to be tough, but not to break people. They are very doable. I say anyone can ride the 30. The 60 is similar, but comfort on slippery dirt and the mental ability to stay in the saddle all day if you're going slow are very helpful.

Very UNOFFICIALLY March second, but we're not cementing it down till Friday.

Redlands Bicycle Classic moved their date from May to the 13th through 17th, and there's no way for us to host our event with that going on.

If I do it again, it would be on the Highball with gears and skinnier tires- only because I don't have a cross type bike. It's definitely taken on more of a "roadie feel" since we did the 101 mile route a couple years ago.

Hope you can make it! I think it's worth trying out. You'll either like it a lot, or won't!

A cross bike is the best bike for this. There is plenty of dirt (60%) but it's smooth, next to zero chunk. When it aims downhill, you just need to slow down. A MTB is fine, but burly built one will be at a disadvantage. Highball with fast tires will be great. And gears, what are those????

It's been done, but I wouldn't recommend a road bike. Too much dirt to slide out on. CX is hard to beat...

99% in even with the date change. I've always enjoyed the riding out there. I have found a few like-minded friends from STR who prefer to aim for "about 50 miles" to allow for a mellow pace and strategic short cuts.

The 100 km/60ish mile route is always my favorite. Although if it plays out as hoped for, the 90 mile route is going to be pretty amazing!

It's official: March 2nd is the new date for RSR VI!!! Our first year having to change the date! Sorry for hassles, and hope it works out better for some of you!

@Mikie could you please change the title and calendar?

    Now that's a practical explanation!

This is a pretty big deal: We were able to get permission to climb up the Seven Oaks Dam as part of the ride! This is unprecedented access that SB County gave us for the event, so we're pretty stoked. Climb up, check out the views, then blast down Alder Creek into Highland. @Voodoo Tom can ride that spiffy new RLT he's looking at!

I'm thinking of doing it again this year... mostly because last year's outing didn't go so well. It will also be a good training ride for some other rides coming up next year.

I'll most likely do the poor man's cross bike- skinny tires on the Chameleon and maybe a bigger chainring. It will have to be geared if there's as much flat stuff as last year. :cautious:

Are you in, @Voodoo Tom ? Great ride for that Niner. :Roflmao

This year should be the no drama-llama year. Straightforward, basic trails we've done before, nothing fancy. But with the exception of adding in the dam which is really cool. It has a great descent on Alder Creek Rd which will be new dirt as well.

There is something in store for the 100 miler as well... still being finalized, but it will be new dirt for us. A lot of it!

3-2-19 that is the weekend before True Grit. If I do this, it’ll be one of the shorter loops.
