    Ride Name: Hellacious Ride 2018
    When: Saturday Oct. 27
    Time: 6:00am
    Where: Hangar 24 Brewery, Redlands
    Ride Description or Details:

This ride is only open to IMTB members.

This is my version of the Bike 4 Bender Hell Ride.....or Hell Ride +

    This is a aelf shuttle.

We will start in Big Bear Village....yes, I said Big Bear.

From there we do an easy 4.5 mile climb up Knickerbocker up to the top of 7 Oaks. 2.5 Miles down 7 Oaks....loose, narrow, flowy, loose, steep. This leads us to a 6 mile gentle grade climb up Front Line Rd/7 Oaks Rd. to South Fork where the actual "Hell Ride" started.

This is where we start SART. 13 miles later we pop out on Hwy 38, before dropping back down to the Middle section of SART. Another 11 miles of mostly DH some chunky, flowy, loose, fast singletrack....and some fast fire road.

This puts us at the bottom of the climb to Morton Peak....this climb hurts, but it's only about 1 mile long.

This leads us into the lower section of SART.....quite a bit of raw trail. Some very narrow sections, some very loose sections....plus some fast and flowy sections.

We end up with a short roadie back to Hangar 24.

This is not a beginner ride. This is a strong Intermediate ride. While the elevation gain per mile is minimal, you still have a few stout climbs, and some are later in the ride.

This is a long ride.....you will spend most of the day on your bike.

    My Ride Rules:

    1. Don’t question the route....you are invited to join a ride I’m hosting, either it works for you or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, find one that does.

    2. Ebikes are not welcome on any of my rides.

    3. No complaining

    4. Know your limits

    5. Be prepared

    6. Be on time

Haha thinking back I did this ride on a borrowed(hijacked) Hightower last year. It’s barely been ridden since then so it might be time.

This is beyond my skill-set, but looks great! I'll be out there on the mountain in some fashion, possibly volunteering at check in, but nothing sure yet.
Stick around for the drawings at Hangar, they're great! Or don't, so I get better chances at winning swag!

Sorry J, I was only being sarcastic, I admit I am pathetic when it comes to an early ride, and yes I know I miss out on some fun times.

@mtnbikej On your route, try to stay to the right/north as you're coming down Madiera @ mile 46.2. It will avoid the crappy-busy Hwy 38.
Madeira till it ends, then right. Capri till it ends, then right. San Bernardino St. for a bit, then right.
You'll get to see the best Mentone has to offer this way!

Agreed. Clearly we don't have many fisherman here. The term "early bird gets the worm" applies to cycling as well.

I don't like it when the alarm goes off at 1:00 or 2:00 for some of these rides, but there is definitely something to be gained. Riding Wrigthwood for 3 hours before we saw the sun come up was surreal. Bucket list stuff.

    6:00? That's kinda late nowadays. :p

You guys who are crabby about getting up super early ought to get a place to stay the night up in Big Bear. That's what I would have been doing if I was able to make this ride.
