    In order of appearance:
    • Two Bobcats
    • One Lady hiking
    • Several very large Heifers (some stampeding)
    • About 8 or 9 Deer
    • More Cows
    • One Charging Mule Deer
    • Several Sleeping Zombies (can not confirm or deny)
    • One Fox (four legged kind)
    • Several more Deer
    • and Rusty (he's still pretty wild even on visit two)

I did notice that those cattle hadn't missed any meals. They seemed pretty large for range fed. They probably lost a few lbs with you guys chasing/racing them. Good thing they didn't belong to my dad or my uncle.:)

Yesterday I was all ready to take off from home and when I opened the door at 6am, I couldn't see the street with all the fog. Usually, I really enjoy mornings like this as it keeps the causal riders back on the couch. I waited a bit and took off - perfect timing.

I don't know why, but I was witness to FIVE super cool hawk sightings. All were less than 30' off the ground and all but one involved hunting down sparrows or doves while they raced through tree branches. It was impressive to see how maneuverable the hawks were in the tight quarters. Lucky me!

This is really sad IMO..we’ve taken up so much of their territory and in some situations we’ve boxed them in :(

On my hike today I saw two gopher snakes, one was dead:(, but this handsome fella was so docile, he let me pick him right up!

Its a Yucca Night lizard. They live under things like fallen Joshua trees. Its one of the few lizards that has hard coverings over its eyes, so no eye lids, like a snake. I believe that they are distantly related to Varanids, like the Komodo Dragon.

Saw three hawks cruising around together today. Seen one or two, never three. Took too long grabbing the phone for pics, see if this works....

Saw mama bear with two cubs near Bridalveil Falls parking lot in Yosemite. Teaching the kids how NOT to break into cars – good job, Mom.

Driving home... Why do deer stand on the freeway? I came so close, right in between two of them after a swerve. Near disaster, watch yerself in pre-dawn hours.

This morning, two does with three fawns right in the yard, my cats are like WTF, we're being infiltrated!

IMG_20190813_180425377.JPG This might not qualify, but encountered seven tarantulas (and only one tarantula hawk) hiking in Fremont Canyon last night. It was 84 degrees at the weather station, so a little brutal ascent (for me). The "coal mine" was, as I recalled from an MTB ride about 15 years ago, not very "miney". One of the smaller subjects; another was pretty large.

I had a horrible smell of death or old stinky clothing in my car since about mid week after Snow Summit ride. I thought maybe one of my socks or headband or something had escaped me. I started pulling up seats, looking under and all that kind of stuff. I pulled up the panel where the spare tire tools are stored. SURPRISE, a dead snake was being eaten by maggots. "Ooh that smell" (Lynyrd Skynyrd reference). I vacuumed it out with my shop vac and forgot to take pics. Smell still there but dissipating. How did that snake get in the vehicle?

    Damn, that's horrible.
    What kind of snake?

In other other news, I'm gonna ride my bike to bootleg Skynyrd tomorrow, pretty sure that song described another smell.

The tarantula pics are fantastic, @Derek13 and @fos'l.

I love seeing those gentle giants around. @DangerDirtyD and I happened to be on Los Piños Peak in the middle of the night, and the summit rocks were loaded with tarantulas. Never seen anything like it. :geek:
