Back to the Weds. normal. Maple Springs to Motorway.

Social ride....but not a beginner ride.

With a 6pm roll time, we should make it most of the way in the daylight, with a night time descent down Motorway. Bring a light.

Hopefully it will cool down a little...hopefully there is a breeze that keeps the bugs away. Bring a bug net.

We are usually around 2.5 hrs for this loop.....social pace being about 3 hrs. If it takes you 4 hrs to do this loop.....don't take it personally, but this Weds. evening ride is not for you. Maybe some other time.

That's true. Nobody is lodged temporarily out of the area, and nobody has loved that ride every time they did it. Nobody wishes they could join.

If you go next week maybe I can make it. I can't make it today. I have yet to do this loop that Faust29 turned me onto a while back. I now have a smaller car to transport my bike easier up the canyon for parking.

 

Whenever I see the words “moderate” and “pace” next to each other, my eyes tend to glaze over...

 

Moderate pace just means we tend to keep moving. We aren’t gonna ride for 10 mins....stop for 10 mins....rinse and repeat.

We usually roll up the pavement and take a quick break at the first guardrail in the dirt. From there it’s usually pushing on to 4C for a break. 4C to Motorway we tend to keep moving, mostly because all the climbs are short.


In other terms, it is about 1:15-1:25 Blackstar gate to gate time.....not a 2:00 gate to gate time.

My pace is closer to 3 1/2 hr, so I stopped considering it.
Maybe when (if?) I can get my pace a bit faster ...

 

I like both loops, but I think this one is a lot easier... Well, easier after the first 3 miles on the pavement. That part blows.

 

I'd love to join you but I leveled myself pretty hard last night at OTH and I wasn't able to sleep for some reason. I'll join you guys on this one in a few weeks when OTH is over.

Wow... I knew there was at least 1 upside of working from home instead of my usual haul to downtown LA!

The kiddos seem to be cooperating and the wife gave the greenlight (I'll be backing away from the house.... towards my car slowly).

I'll plan to see you guys there. Parking at the Maple lot or side of Silverado?

We usually park on the right about 1/2 mile before the MS gate. There's enough room in that spot for 3-4 cars.

Now just need brake pads for the rear, but that won't stop me from going, front is OK.
Might just go to 4 corners. Legs are shot from hiking yesterday. We'll see.
