I just don't get the Jones bikes.

$1800 for a rigid steel bike.....with a pretty low build spec.

It's steel. It's Jones. It's kinda like Apple.

Have always been on my radar. People seem to really like 'em. The one size fits all thing is tough for me to get, but the rest of the design points seem to have a lot of thought behind them. I love the Ti truss bikes... I think they look like something that stepped out of a Giger painting!

Might be fun to tour on, but there’s too many rad HTs out there to get excited about trail riding on it. Yep, wet blanket here. I’d rather tour on a shredder than trail ride on this bike. Maybe I’m missing something...

You keep your DOS box, and I'll keep my Unix derivative. One has been known to run for years without issue... And the other one I've helped countless people rescue data after Microsoft told them it was gone, and they had to reformat and start over. :p But I have to admit, I haven't actually owned a Windows computer since the mid 90s, when I fell in love with anything Unix. The command line was heaven. Still is! :inlove:

As far as the Jones bikes go, whatever floats your boat! I loved the feel of steel, and will probably own another one someday... I believe @bigringrider101 is a little more knowledgeable about them and may chime in. I think he even had one of those oddball forks.

Edit: They kinda lost me with the "Lower rolling resistance" on the 3" tires at low pressure. I can assure you that is not the case. o_O

When Jeff talks about this. He’s comparing a skinny tire from a cross bike to a 3 inch low presure tire rolling on gravel or grass. When the cross tire will sink in an increase the resistance and the 3” tire will just float on top.

Well then....that settles that.....all the time I spend riding on grass, I guess I have been doing it wrong.

Hey, Bernie, good to see you around :)

I’m thinking my 2.4-2.5 will have less rolling resistance than a 3” on anything but dry, soft sand :geek:

There we go, Mike. Sand is the other element that I missed on my other post.

To the OP, if you really want a Jones bike I’d say save the $1800 and save some more then get yourself a space frame with the truss fork. Or actually that same amount was what I paid for a Ti Truss fork and a steel space frame.

Wow, you guys are ragging on this bike!

It’s a niche thing. Either you’re in or you’re out but if you’re not in, don’t rip on it unless you’re happy when someone rips on your rigs.

Go ahead, anyone, rag on my bikes. It won’t change how they work for me, but it will provide some welcome amusement

Nope, not ragging on the bike. Just having fun with the name...

"Dude, what bike do you want?"
"Man, I've got my eye on a Jones...." (jonesin'...y'know....)

Obviously it's niche, just like Apple has become - having the same chip isn't widely advertised. It costs mucho ducats, and owning one was for the cachet, not value.

    And it's steel!!!
