First off, I’d like to start off thanking those of you who chimed in with thier thoughts and recommendations regarding throwing upgrades at my 07 S-Works. Much appreciated!

Yesterday, I spent nearly the entire day demoing bikes of different flavors.... Cannondales, Trek EX and Specialized. The shop let me hit up some of the paved bike paths around town. The paths had a few inclines, decents, etc, just enough to give me an idea on the 1x11 drivetrain characteristics.

Any how, I kept coming back to the ‘18 Specialized Camber Comp model. At the $2500 price point, it had the slightly better components and it just felt comfortable (to me anyway). I rode this bike for about 1-1.5hr. This was the shop’s last 2018 model and they had it marked down to $2000 for thier 4th sale. In addition to the $500 mark down, they offered another small discount to me which basically covered the sales tax.... SOLD!

Once I got it home, I put a 720mm carbon bar on, some “Chester” flat pedals and a beefy 2.6 front tire!

I know this bike very well, use to have one. Is that a med? Just be carefull on dropper selection, the dropper doesn't go all the way down because of the bend. You will need a short insertion depth dropper like the bikeyoke 125mm 30.9 or oneup 150mm 30.9 droppers. The oneup you can shim down to 100-140 mm which is the best solution. If you don't know what I'm talking about ask away. The fox transfer, raceface and others are a little long on insertion depth.

    Yes! So happy for you!
That will give you miles of smiles!
    Great choice!

Listen to the boys here on droppers, they only want the very best for you so ask a lot of questions and get answers.

You are going to dig that bike. Only problem I see right now is it is way too clean!
Get you some hero Singletrack. Last ingredient? Dirt!

Don't listen to any of them. Keep your bike clean. Do what I do. I never actually ride, I just write here on the forum as though I actually do ride!

Good choice - have fun. Dropper posts are only necessary if your terrain is continually changing. If you ride up for a prolonged period of time, then ride down to the bottom, you can simply change it manually at the top and again at the bottom. Works well here in Laguna/Aliso/LCWP. Probably not so well in other places with quicker transitions from climbing to descending and back again.

See? Almost sounds like I've ridden before! I have them all fooled! :whistling:

So you upgraded to 720 bars? What did it come with? That's a not so modern bike width.

Seriously... This has to be a record. From initial question to new purchase in 60 seconds flat. I like this guy! Can we keep him??? :D

So... @45acpguy - Is the old bike going into backup status? I'd recommend keeping her for those rare occasions that your primary bike is in the shop, or just to go back in time after riding the modern bike. It'll be a shock to the system after you get used to the new steed.
