As long as I dont pee with it on my gloves like I did with the P. O. at Noble all will be fine.

I’ve missed out on poodle dog bush, but not PO, PI, stinging nettle, scorpion and brown recluse.

@LLPoolJ, you’re in elite company. PO on the unit – maybe more common than one might think. Don’t laugh at your buddy when it happens to him. That’ll increase your chances dramatically!

Scorpion weed and Poodle dog make poison oak seem like a slice of New York cheese cake, comparatively.

If you haven't had either of the aforementioned, do your best to keep it from ever happening.

Speaking of poison oak, I am suffering from small isolated rash patches as we speak. Too much exposure to the stuff the past several rides. It finally got me. :(

@rossage and @hill^billy can both attest we plowed through acres of poodle dog between Red Box and Switzer. My bars and gloves looked like we threw PD in a blender and left the lid off in osterizer mode.
    Never had any affect! :coffee:

The supposed experts say there are no brown recluse in California. I have three friends who have had muscular damage, skin grafts and surgery to dispute that. One of them is missing half of his triceps now.
    Hope your damage was minimal.

I get PO really bad. Stay away.

We have it up here now, it shows up after a fire and that’s exactly what it did! Thankfully I was told what it was and to steer clear so I’ve never gotten into it.

I’ve heard it both ways, Jim. Some say the desert recluse, less venomous, lives here. I waited ten days and had the stripes showing up, some unexplained flu symptoms. Minimal tissue loss on my wrist, got two IV abx and orals. Hemotoxin is gnarly! I’d rather be laid out with a neurotoxin like a scorpion sting. Get it over with...

Are you referring to poodle dog bush or giant hogweed? According to cdfa hogweed has not been recorded in California yet and judging by the climate of areas it had invaded its seems to like much wetter climes than SoCal. So if it does invade here it will likely be restricted to perennial waterways/canyon bottoms.
Yup, poodle dog Bush is a fire-follower. Luckily I’ve never touched it. Btw it is not an invasive plant but native to California

Yep, Poodle Dog Bush, it’s a pretty purple flower on a long stalk. Before the fire I’d never seen it up here. I’ve never seen the hogweed, but I’ve seen something similar on the Central California Coast..it may just be a harmless look alike.

It looks like cow parsnip, a harmless related species native to North America. I did read there’s a high risk of hog weed invading NorCal, but not SoCal so much.

First time with poodle dog no issues. Next couple times it got worse to the point of needing steroids, try to avoid it now.

Went years with no issues from poison oak, now get itchy if I just look at it.
