I recently picked up 7IDP's M2 helmet. It was intended to be a backup helmet but it is so comfortable my new Kali Interceptor just sits on the shelf. As @scottay said Jeremy gives a generous discount. More info here.

I have one of those. It is comfortable, and it has bug screens in the two forward vents. That comes in handy. The day-glo green paint faded in the sun.

The most comfortable helmet - of the 8 or so trail/xc helmets I've owned is the IXS RS (Richie Schley). However, the brow is very low. Great for funneling sweat off in front of your glasses and for protecting your forehead in a crash, not so great for visibility while climbing.

My TLD A1 MIPS is a great helmet, except the MIPS dots hurt my head.

Those 7 helmets look pretty cool. What brand are they similar in fit to? My head likes Specialized, Giro, Smith and the Troy Lee A2. Bell, Fox, POC and A1 don’t fit my head. I also don’t know if I’ve ever seen them in a store to try one on.

I have been using Kali helmets for several years now and currently run the Interceptor. Very comfy and have no complaints about it. I also have a POC Tectal as my back up helmet.

Whoever was on that naming team should be fired. A helmet called a Rectal???? Really???:eek:o_O

Cause y'know they had to have a bad case of cranial rectumitis to go there.

It might be POC Tectal. I hear the Rectals fit a little tight, and do not control odor very well.

Whatever you do try em on first and find the right brand and fit. Some brands just won't fit the way you like. In my opinion stick with the more all mountain/enduro style helmets(like what you had on) as they cover a bit more of your noggin. I don't think the minimalist XC style helmets would protect well enough for my style of crashes.

I'm a Bell helmet fan, always have been. For me they fit and look good and most importantly work as designed. I've rung my bell a few times in the last couple years and the helmets did the job.

I haven't used the 7IDP helmet myself but bought one for my son and he loves it. I use their gloves and love em. They are a local company based in Castaic and Jeremy is a cool guy(and rides GE a lot) I can PM you some info.

Here's how my last couple helmets wound up looking.

Good gravy man, that was a strong hit! This is excellent info as I was looking at the Smith Rover, but it doesnt have enough rear coverage. So many to choose from, may head to Rei to try on a few.
Did you concuss with that hit??

I’ve been wearing the 6d ATB-1 helmet. And absolutely love it. It’s a little big, but it covers really well. Fits my head good too. Similar fitting to the Giro helmets.

I have worn it once and it was a perfect fit for me. I can't really say anything good or bad. But I do prefer the BOA closure on the Kali helmet.

Agree with all of this. I always try them on before buying and get what fits best. Some brands seem to change the fit or sizing from year to year, so don't assume that what you had before will fit.

I've gone through three Giro Hex's most recently. Two were medium and fit well, but most recently the medium was too big. The small seemed ok in the store but feels too small when out riding. Guess my head swells a bit when exercising? Had to look for something new and ended up with a TLD helmet as the best fit.

The problem with a lot of the EnduroBro helmets is lack of airflow. Its gets too hot! I got a white Giant helmet for summer, its light and has good vents.
    Something like this.

    .
Most good helmets have foam inserts to adjust fit, and the ratchet gizmo in the back also.

I really like my IXS Helmet TrailRS Evo. My buddy Troy also has one and it saved his head when he went down HARD right in front of me in Whiting. Available in an assortment of colors. Plenty of wrap around protection while still being well ventilated and light.
