    All,
Sara Ford aka @mountaingirl sara is legit. She is fast and a very strong climber. Tom and I were at Tapia today and ran across her with some of our buds from CrankNStein. Every where she has been riding lately she has been getting QOM’s!

Well... she went down hard today. Received a concussion and a broken collarbone and now looks like possible surgery.

@Voodoo Tom and and I have ridden with her a couple times and Sara is awesome and rocks it on a bike. Check out her times on STRAVA for Golden Eagle.

Sara, we wish you a fast recovery healing vibes Sistah! If you need anything, this tribe is here for you!

Guys, please chime in and show Sara some imtbtrails love...
I will text her the link to the page.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I am glad you guys were there to help. Concussions suck. :( Broken clavicles suck. :( Of the two, let's hope the concussion amounts to nothing.

Healing vibes, thoughts and prayers to Sara @mountaingirl sara

Heal up.....crashing is part of the game, but injuries are not fun.

Good thing clavicles are the bone to break....they heal quickly and generally don't cause long term issues.

Tuff times don't last for long,
    But tuff people do.

Heal strong Sara, before you know you will be out on the trails soon.

Crashes are inevitable, and recovery is short in the big picture. At least you have us to keep you entertained and motivated while you heal.

Major healing vibes Sara. I’m sure the next few days aren’t going to be fun but I’m sure with your dedication and fitness level and kick ass attitude you will bounce back strong as ever. Surgery may not be a bad thing as it heals better and faster.

I felt so bad for you as we tried to help get you comfortable and warm while coming up with a plan to get you out of there. Very thankful we had several experienced and level headed guys to help. For a brief moment I thought I may wind up in the hospital with you as that wackjob landowner chased us down in a truck. Once I explained what was going on he was cool though.

Look forward to riding with you again soon rockstar.

Heal fast and one suggestion from personal experience on recovery from clavicle surgery. Although blood clots are quite rare with clavicle surgery, they happened to me and travelled to my lungs. Could have killed me. Best suggestion is despite the discomfort keep in motion as much as possible.

@mountaingirl sara - I hope the concussion just goes away. I had a crash in 2014 in which I dislocated my shoulder and cut up my face pretty bad. I don't remember riding that day, nor anything about the crash, getting out of there, the ER or much of anything else until about 7pm in the hospital. They kept me two nights. Fortunately, once my awareness came back the first evening, it just got better and better, and I've had no residual symptoms. I hope your experience is similar. Best wishes!

PS: I still have no recollection of the events from before my crash until "waking up" in the hospital, yet, according to the friend I was with, I was walking and talking as I was being assisted. Weird.

I was riding a recumbent trainer at 3 weeks post surgery, but then the pulmonary embolism struck and three days in the hospital with non-stop vomiting really set me back. Seven weeks after surgery I was riding around the block and the week after I was doing 10 mile bike path rides and another week smooth fire roads. Squeeze a rubber ball with your hand in the sling to keep the blood flowing.

Typical mtn biker. Next she'll be inspecting her bike for damage "a good sign". Sara get better. And some advice from an old timer. You jolted your brain so any weirdness is fairly normal so do not panic. A flash of dizzy, forgetting, noises, taste, you flip a light on and it seems bright. The list is endless. I'm no doc but only be concerned if something gets worse, which it won't. Time for ice cream. Again get better.

@mountaingirl sara, any updates on your diagnosis? Do you know if your pupils are the same size? Also, what kind of break on your clavicle?

I’ll know tomorrow after talking to the surgeon.
Haven’t looked at my pupils, I will tho. It’s a clean break and a shoulder separation I’m told... will get more info w the specialist. ER is never great about this stuff.
    Thanks for messaging!

That is an understatement. Here we will give you the minimum information we can then push you off onto someone else.

When I broke my ankle years ago.....they casted me up to my hip.....they also didn't bother to address the dislocation of my foot. This was a Saturday night, and they knew I wouldn't be able to get to an Orthopedic until Monday morning at the earliest.

    Heal up.

Now you're gonna have way too much time to sit on the computer, reading the ride reports of others.:bang: Don't let that push you into doing more than you should, earlier than you should. Listen to the docs.

Not that I've ever broken a bone, but I've read enough from other people who didn't wait as long as they should have...

Hang in there Sara. I didn't have any numbness in my hand. Be sure to let your doc know about that. As far as I recall my orthopedist said that if the bone is more than 15mm apart then oftentimes surgery is the right course. Did you get a referral to an orthopedic surgeon?

I’ll for sure let them know about the hand. I’ll see him/ her today..I’m told surg is most likely needed, which is good because it keeps moving around which is freaking me out a little
    Thanks so much
