My Friday morning commute went horribly wrong...

Looks like the skid lid did its job. Now you have to tell us what happened.

 

Basically just ran out of talent at the wrong time. I rode the XC hardtail. Rain ruts twitchy bike and skinny 2.2 tires are a bad combo. I knew I should've ridden the hightower. Doubt I'll be riding home...

Yeah didn't exactly have time to plan the dismount. Got a nice goose egg above my eye and a pretty spd gash on the shin to go with it.

Yes, the list of bikes that haven't thrown me off and caused me to land on the same damn already sore shoulder is now down to two. That would be the Hightower and the Ripley. Coincidence...? I think not. Time to go back to my roots.

 

The XC hardtail has its place. Apparently its place is somewhere other than your commute.

Heal up quick. You still gotta guide me on the Old Ridge Route ride.

 

You need a beer @Voodoo Tom, heal up quick! I think you’re the only person I have seen who commutes on trails, as you said maybe you should just stick with the bikes that are more forgiving.

I wish I could say it was one of the trails that got me. Sadly it was a 25 foot wide fireroad. I had just finished a climb from hell which then heads down abruptly and slightly off camber. No sooner than I hit the dropper and assumed the position there where dozens of small 2" deep ruts. The rest is history and things went bad in a hurry. Jumped up real quick and continued on cause I new I was hurting and was going to stiffen up. Still had a few miles to go. Home now having some 12oz pain meds and listening to the wife tell me I should go to urgent care.

 

Dang Tom, sorry to see this. Get cleaned up, bandaged up, iced-up, and when all that is taken care of, take at least two consecutive shots of Jack Daniels (for medicinal purposes).

Darn, torn jersey, scuffed up helmet, road rash, bruises, goose egg,...

Heal up bud! And don't forget that if you aren't crashing occasionally, you aren't riding hard enough.

Just tell the wife that unless something is amputated, or a vein is emulating Mt. Pinatubo, urgent care is for sissies.

 

I refer to it as my semi annual "soil sample"...
