New for 2019, the Satoria is back.
Super steep seat angle at 78.3 degrees... dropper is not even an option, pretty much necessary..

68 head angle.. they call it a mid travel xc bike...

only 2 price points.. eagle drivetrain... or ten speed...

I have been on a process 111 for almost two years. My favorite ride so far... been riding mtb since 87 and have ridden complete boutique custom and off the rack bone stock and many frankenbike set ups, anyways For those techy people, what is the difference between the suspension on the process and satori?

I have seen this bike in person at my LBS. One of my riding buds is actually the new owner. Don’t think he has taken it out yet. Looks pretty sweet. I’ll let you all know how he likes it.

What is the argument for such a steep seat angle?

The only argument that matters...it works for those who buy it.

Supposedly to make it climb more like an xc bike.

It keeps the cockpit more consistent through the dropper stroke, and makes climbing easier.

Most published ST angles are deceptive and "effective" angles. And you can change the actual angle just by moving the seat fwd or back on the rails.
    .
All this comes into play when you properly get your bike fit. What good is a steep STA when you need to use a set-back seatpost?
    .
I visually compare the STA with the head tube angle. Kinda gives you a quick reference of what it actually measures. I believe HT measurements more than STA quotes.

Are those chainstays pretty long at 430?

We just had that discussion but for the opposite on the Hightower. The shorter chain stays brings the rear wheel forward... with the steeper seat tube angle it better centers body weight over the front and rear end.

Thanks, makes sense, just like using wider bars with a shorter stem. 78^ just seems crazy steep though. Especially for someone on the saddle a lot. If you use your dropper all the time, and are rarely seated/spinning, it would work better. But for a rider that sits/spins more (long SoCal climbs!, it seems sorta' not so good. That kind of rider would probably do better on a bike w/ longer stays so the SA could stay in the 73-74^ range.

Not necessarily.....while I loved my Tallboy 3, the slack ST angle made it uncomfortable to sit and pedal. Always felt like I was pedaling out in front of myself. Some of that may have been having the bike overforked a bit. Slamming the seat forward in the rails helped a little.

Right, real far back isn't necessarily good, either! I'm sure this package works together and is really well thought out. Just working to wrap my brain around that STA!

They make up those STA numbers. The seat tube is curved back. If they measured at the BB location it would be super steep. But if they measured from further up, its probably much more slack.

Miffed on the flex-pivot. And on a Kona review it says flexing seat stays. So if I were to remove the shock and wheel then with one finger move the rear end through the stroke, would I be fighting the resistance from a seat stay bending? I'm no engineer. I remember cannondale doing a true chainstay flex thing. I like this bike ALLOTTT.

OK - let's go all geometry here.

If you bring the seat tube that far forward, aren't you cutting the reach and the effective top tube length again? So now what? A 5' wheelbase for XL?

Let's not go to extremes in any measurement. I know, very boring. We know what works well for trail bikes: 16.9" chainstays, 73-75° seat tube angle. Longer - but not stupid long - reach (26" ETT for XL or 19" reach), 65-67° head tube (steeper if 29er). 13.5" BB height. Low but not too low. 780mm bars - wide, but not too wide. 50mm stem, etc.

    You know, like this:

The one I demoed at Live Oak event couple months ago climbed like a rocket. Unreal how every pedal stroke boosted me forward. The front tire (Ardent) was complete crap on Luge loop. Guy that rode demo before me came back missing skin and some clothing. Asked him what happened and he said front tire washed out twice and went down. I proceeded to take it out and struggled to get through loose descents without front sliding all over the place. Bike felt real good otherwise.
