My 2018 Santa Cruz has what I would assume would be a 2018 SRAM XO1 Eagle rear Derailleur.
Saturday, my 3rd ride out on this new steed, I break my lower idler pulley (and rear spoke).

So I go to the Santa Cruz site to look up the specs to see exactly what rear Derailleur I have and it states, SRAM X01 Eagle. So then I look up the specs for a SRAM X01 Eagle to find out the part number for the pulley and came up with X-Sync. So,then I go to Jenson and order One, which only comes in pairs. Got them today and they are the wrong size, too small.

Just a guess but I bet you could order a complete GX eagle derailleur and just steal the pulleys you need and it'd probably cost about the same.

You ordered pulleys for 11 spd. Those are not for Eagle 12 spd.

SRAM Spare parts catalog doesn't show Eagle Pulleys as separate parts...only available with new cage.

    You need this part:

11.7518.078.010 X01 Eagle Rear Derailleur 12 speed X-Sync Pulleys and InnerCage Grey

Have the shop you bought it from submit a warranty claim for it.

This is exactly what happens when there's more than one bike in the garage. Stupid sh!t breaks for no apparent reason. Trust me.

Pour some TW on it that should solve the issue.

It was the power of Tailwind that caused the failure in the first place. Brute force after hours of climbing!

    BTW, I don't like SRAM...

    Ever bit this...
Tailwinds helped smuggle me across the border and it is great for loosening rusted bolts.

Their pulleys are total crap. They drill all those holes to lighten them up, and they instead end up falling apart. I replaced the ones on an X9 derailer with XT pulleys. Problem solved.

Did you know that Tailwinds prevented 37% of the attempted suicides in 2016?

Hope you can get that part, QBP doesnt expect the part till after new years. Nor do they have the GX Eagle derailleur in stock. Hope you can make a pulley out of Tailwind.

I would seriously go back to where I bought the bike and not leave until there is a new pulley on the derailleur. That may mean they swap out the derailleur. So be it.

First Eagle failure I've heard of.

I would take it back to the shop for a warranty repair.

The OC trails are just too much for helmeted heads, Conti tires, DT spokes, and unbreakable derailleur pulleys.

I would do the same, the shop may not have that derailleur in the shop. I am absolutely sure Santa Cruz will take care of them.

Broke a spoke and a cog? And its a warranty thing? Nobody else can deduce that he hit something that went thru the cog and spoke?

@Mikie I have two questions for you:

    1. Does this mean you are riding it like you stole it?
    2. I guess I have been a bit MIA, but what bike did you end up getting?!?!

If he takes it on the FLoop, the entire bike will fall apart. Even TW won't be strong enough.

I assumed it was a complaint about something new failing, not from breaking something.

Actually I have no problem breaking parts. I ride my bikes hard.
I'm actually reaching out frustrated trying to find a replacement part... ha hah!
But I found it interesting that this part broke. I have never broke a pulley in my life (this is a really big pulley).

I would be interested in a CNC machined aftermarket as I can easily see this happening again. That is all!
