Been reading up on this unique brand from New Zealand. All reviews are amazing. Does any body have experience riding a bicycle with a gear box? Seems like losing the rear derailer would be interesting to say the least. The center of gravity is low and right where you need it. No rear wheel to dish, results in a much stronger and stiffer wheel. I'd love to test ride one these bikes. I think they look badass... maybe because they look VERY SIMILAR to the Nomad I am currently riding.

No experience, but looking forward to gearboxes gaining in popularity. Sure, I like the light setup on my XC. But for trail/enduro? I think the gearbox would be better.

I haven't pedaled one "yet". They are more popular with the "I'm going to ride around the world" crowd due to the legendary reliability. Rohloff is another big name in that style. Besides being long-term maintenance free, they also have wide ranges of ratios. Most of the reviews I've read mention a little hitch shifting under load, but most also say they got used to it real quickly.

    Here's a review of another bike using a Pinion - http://www.bikepacking.com/bikes/viral-skeptic-review/

@OTHRider thats a good read. Although I’m not into bike packing. I did like the insight they had on the Pinion gearbox and components.

  5. It pretty amazing that the zerode tanwha ever made it to production. It’s a testament to massive commitment that Rob Metz made to himself and fans of his DH bikes to build the best AM bikes that could ever be.

I am a believer in his engineering principals and how they can translate to bicycle performance.

    Fanatic review here.

I’d sure like to try one.
