    Ride Name: Winter Solstice Ride 'Round Redlands
    When: Thursday 12/21/17
    Time: 9:00
    Where: Redlands
    Ride Description or Details:
    This grew out of a conversation with one of my touring buddies who also has the week before Christmas off. It's grown from there, so thought it would be rude to not include my extended family on the invitation! Ride is similar to the Strada Rossa routes, but has a bit more dirt and a touch more singletrack. About 70% of it will be on dirt. Trails are mostly buffed, with some rocky sections in the wash miles 5-9 approx. Light XC bike will be more than fine.

    Here's the tentative map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26616942

    There's a planned lunch stop at a great German deli at mile 25.4. There are also two breweries on the route, just because how else would you celebrate the solstice????

    ~~~~~ Optional Details ~~~~~
    Meet Location:
    Augie's Coffee, downtown Redlands. https://goo.gl/maps/S73K4FnYLM62
    Skill Level: Intermediate
    Ride Pace: Easy with Moments of Effort
    Type of Ride: Loop
    Rider Limit: Not on this one
    Anticipated Mileage: 35-50
    Elevation Gain: 4,000+
    Ride Duration: All day
    Previous Ride Reports:
    Possible Bail-Outs:
    Easy to turn around and head back at any point up to the nine mile mark. After that the next best option is at 16.2 and then again at 20.8. You'll still need to add on 10 miles to get back, but they're all downhill miles.
    The next logical choice would be to turn back into town at the 32 mile mark. In the back of my mind, this would also be the group bail out point. That'll still make it a 35 mile ride. I'd like to get the whole thing done, but am fully able to call it short if we run out of time/energy/motivation.
    Facilities: El Dorado Park, George's Deli
    Food/water suggestions: Probably a two bottle ride, with water at 16 and 26, and if we need to divert for some, more at around nine, 32 and 39.
    I've been thinking this over for a couple days... friend Jim wants to come
    Me too!!! j/k... it's gonna be fun, glad you can make it out!
    Will be cold tomorrow, and blustery. Plan accordingly!
    I have three routes... all the same till around mile 34. I can't decide between 29er and plus bike....
    probably go 29er (which means I need to give it a once over).
