Where is Unigeezer?

Where is he? Do I need to invite him personally? I was just over on OTB and someone resurrected a Muni thread from March and it dawned on me that I hadn't seen him posting but then realized he was on STR!

 

He rides a unicycle, and is therefore a creature of habit. Probably won't be over here.

 

Don't worry. If there's any chance for self promotion, he'll show up!

 

I've met Terry before and he's a super cool dude. No doubt he does some crazy things on his unicycles. Just does't quite fit in with the MTB world though. He would be top dog on a Unicycle forum, if there is such a thing.

 

Sorry.....can't say I really miss him.

Every post he made was "look how awsome I am". He never participated in any other aspects of a forum community.

 

I think we are all guilty of posting "look how awesome I am".

 

Not me. I haven't managed anything greater than mediocrity on a bicycle yet.

 

Perhaps....but at least we engage in other forum conversations that don't have to do with ourselves.

Yes, we all turn the light on ourselves once in a while - like on ride reports. But even those are usually gracious towards riding partners and are more about sharing than showing off. I talked to him once when I apologized for a smartass comment I made (can you imagine such a thing coming from me?). He basically said "No worries. I am doing this purely for self promotion so I can make myself more marketable."

I invited him to comment on anything other than himself. To join the community. To talk about trails, or beverages, or life. Share some cool videos of others riding - or a great article. I believe he posted one comment or maybe even started a thread not related to self-promotion. Then he went back to it. It's what he does. It doesn't bother me one way or another anymore. I just never click on any of his threads - and I am sure he does likewise for mine.

Now...about the guy who posts videos of himself and his wife riding a flat concrete path every week.... Oh never mind. He's a nice dude too and proud of what he does. People are fascinating. (waving emoticon)

Asides - commenting about others' tendencies does not mean one thinks oneself rad. Quite the contrary - I am definitely not rad. I am barely competent, but I sure appreciate MtB rad-ness in others, whether it's huge mileage rides, winning expert class at Fontana, boosting jumps with a ponytail flying, dropping BFR without hesitation or pros demonstrating amazing skills and courage.

However, Run DMC thinks I'm rad!

Never met Terry, but he seems like a reasonable sort of bloke. I enjoyed some of his videos, his riding, and the effort that he put into creating his videos.

 

He probably googles his own handle so we should be seeing he here any day.

UniGeezer is a self promoter. Was really cool to see the first few ( dozen?) times, but after seeing he didn't contribute anything else....

Mr Beanz is a good guy. Ridden with him many times, always fun and major stoke. I count him as a friend even though we don't hang out.

Me, I post little other than BS, don't go on enough group rides, let others do RR's, and of course as BonsaiNut said, I post and know you'll figure it out! And I'm OK with that. ( although I should get out on more group rides)

So back on topic, I did see the Uni on the news a couple months ago..

 

Ironically, he would have gotten much more exposure if he simply talked with riders on bike forums. The lack of engagement was, continues to be, off putting to bikers on MTB sites. Not to mention the slo-mos of three inch airs and hyperbole.

 

He didn't really bother me that much. He was asked to stick to the BS section on STR and he pretty much stayed there from what I recall. If he only knows UNI then what does he really have to offer us BI-people? Perhaps if he actually tried engaging the BI's he would be so out of his element that he would just look like he's grasping at straws and we'd prolly all be complaining about him clogging up the other topics and accuse him of posting just so his name was out there. IDK. His UNI skills are impressive, and so is his passion for a fringe form of riding. I think he's just lonely and we're the closest thing he has to a UNI forum. My $0.02.
