What's your occupation?

So what do you do for a living? Or what did you do if you are retired?

I am a driver for UPS. I am very fortunate to have a job I enjoy with great benefits and one that affords me plenty of time off to do what I like to do. I just passed my 27th anniversary. Hard to believe I will be eligible for retirement in September but will go a few more years. I will definitely go stir crazy when I no longer work for UPS.

So tell me. What's your occupation?

I'm currently a capital project manager. Recently was an analyst. Used to build airplanes. Before that I was in the Navy.

Jack of all trades.

 

I'm an administrator for non-profit programs. Fun fact, my position was originally funded by the Casey Foundation-a foundation started by a member of the UPS founder's family. I love the work, there's never a dull moment and if I wear a suit to a meeting or presentation, I have to change because you def. can't have nice things working in my office.

I'm also a dad, and kind of a dirtbag...and really jealous of anyone who's close to retirement.

 

I'm a process engineering manager for a metal forming (forging) company that serves the aerospace industry. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it.

If I could do it all over again, I would have tried to be bit by a radioactive spider. I hear that gig is awesome.

I'm very popular, everyone wants to be my best friend. Especially Moms and Dads who work at NGC that have kids they want to get a job so the Parents can have their lives back.

I would rather be self employed like I have been for most of my life, but the Early 2000 economy took care of that.

 

I manage a team of analysts at an investment firm. That's just my day job though..

 

I was in corporate finance for almost 20 years before I decided to focus more on my family and be a stay-at-home dad about 7 months ago. I love the new job! Time will tell whether this is just a short break from the career or if I can make it work as a very early retirement.

 

New hobby: I can teach you how to fish if you are interested? I've been doing that since the 70s and hardcore since about 1982.

Heck, I've only been mountain biking since 1998! What a rookie!

I did that for a couple years before my current job. Much more fun than what I'm doing now which is accounting/finance for a software company.

Machinist by trade. Been doing it since Moby Dick was a polliwog. Run a cnc shop with a dozen or so employees. Should be designing & programming & making cool parts to keep our customers in the aftermarket motorcycle industry happy but instead I seem to spend most of my time being a babysitter. Used to be a fun trade but not so much anymore. If I didn't get to ride my bike to work frequently you'd probably see my face on the side of a milk carton...
