    Ride Description or Details:
This is a solid Santa Ana Mountains ride. It will encompass 3 big climbs(Harding/Skyline/Maple Springs). There will also be some other intermediate climbs along Main Divide....going both directions. Sierra Peak out and back is on the route, but may be skipped.

So we will start at the bottom of Harding. Climb Harding to Main Divide. Take Main Divide to Eagle Rd. Descend Eagle Rd....short road spin to Skyline Drive and climb Skyline to Beeks'. From Beeks' we will continue along Main Divide to Siverado Motorway. Down the Motorway, then climb back up Maple Springs to 4 Corners(this is gonna hurt). Then a long descent down Harding back to the start.

In all seriousness, I was thrilled to finish a 15000 foot week, after 6 weeks in a row under 8000. Seems to be the pattern at the holidays.

I’ll get the Highball ready and aim for a good portion of that ride!

    I'll probably be in Temecula.....

I'm looking for a rational way to chop this ride.
Bottom of MW back to the car is not a day in the park.
I can think of two options:
1 on the road ( tree farm - Modjeska - car)
    2 Up Maple Down Harding.

This is a loop I need to do but with my current lack of riding not sure I can hang. Hmm maybe join in for some of this like Harding, motorway to maple.

Exactly....think about how easy 54/11,000 will be when you train to do 60/12,000.

I’ve never understood the “I’m doing a 50 mile event....I’m gonna train to do 50 miles” mentally. Train a little over it to be prepared.

But it also has 3 solid climbs.

I was about to drop @mtnbikej another note about B* thursday and I see this...

I rode Harding 26 times last year. It calls to me...

I have no doubt in my ability to complete this ride, but I am always concerned about the pace. I hate holding people up. So count me in on the ride up Harding (at the minimum) and we'll take it from there. Have to check in with the wife regardless because of the time factor.

I rode on Sunday, ran today, will be riding tomorrow, and running again on Friday, so I may be a little worn out on Saturday AM. But you know what they say - a well broken-in saddle can handle the long trails!

After looking at this route, I may bail out at the Motorway, climb Maple Springs and scoot out down Harding. That's a big ride for me, but not an all-day event. I wish I could confidently commit to more but I drink too much beer :)

FWIW 6:00 at Harding is still dark. At least... it was this Sunday :)

I got out of my Temecula "soft commitment"......

I'm planning to be there, and I might ride my SS.
If that's the case, I dought that I can make it past Harding.
If I choose to ride gears I'll attempt the same loop as @BonsaiNut.

I was switching the Highball back to single speed mode... When I stripped the SS dropout threads. The new ones won't be here in time.:thumbsdown: I'm debating between geared Highball (light bike) versus single speed Chameleon (heavy bike). After the Wrightwood 50, I swore that the Chameleon wouldn't be called into service for 10,000 foot days.

When I show up on the heavy bike, you all have permission to laugh and point. :p

We did a smaller version of this ride last year, and I got 8000 feet by Beeks Place. My goal on this one is 8-10K. I haven't been much over 4k since November's Harding to San Juan ride. :gag:

I’m have no doubt there is gonna be some walking on this ride. Just not til we get back on Main Divide heading back towards MW.

However skipping the Sierra Peak out and back will keep the legs going a little bit longer.
