I saw some twisting in the rear triangle at .45 in the video. I suggest a high grade alloy to remedy the issue.

I 100% support ebikes on the road......if they remove a car from the road.

I think e-bikes could really turn the tide with getting people out of cars for trips <2 miles. Really, they should be on a bike, but given America, putting a motor on it might get them out of a car. Probably not though.

 

I'm okay with eBikes on the road...Gasp! No seriously, it tends to make sense to me. Motorized bike on a paved motorized road? Works for me.
I have also been doing a LOT of thinking when it comes to Bike Shops selling eBikes (don't panic), somebody has to, right? I mean if we all do have exceptions to the rule, like guys up in years, or guys with health issues, and things of that nature, somebody has to sell them.

My heart was broken the other day when I found out Squeaky Wheel was selling eBikes. Listening to Bob explain his pathetic explanation as to why, were just the wrong why's, and... to the wrong guys.
But if he would have said, "Hey, there has to be someone to sell eBikes to those who have (insert real legitimate reason) and they are not going to ride on non motorized trails." Or something like that, I can see where someone has to sell them.

However, there also must be a requirement, a pamphlet or document that the LBS and the eBike buyer must sign and file/submit that clearly states this vehicle is NOT to be used on non-motorized trails. I actually have no problem with that.

 

Do I detect an e-volution of o-pinion?

 

Nothing wrong with an assist on the pavement. I mean, for non-cyclists or "commuters."
If a buddy showed-up to a road ride on that thing..The LOLs would never end.

 

Kinda what I meant. They need to earn their altitude even on pavement. Watching one of these blow by me going up GMR or hwy 39 would be irritating.

On the riverbed? Whatever.

 

Motor pacer for speed training..?

 

On SART.....I would hope not.

 

Yeah, I've never broken 28 mph on SART.

 

I guess I was misunderstood. I meant they could be used for speed training anywhere motorized vehicles are allowed. Like I've seen motor pacing on Westminster Blvd. out by the Naval Weapons Center.

 

Nope! Of the same opinion. Let the roadies deal with their sorry azz's !
I'm just saying that we have all for the most part suggested there are situations where an eBike makes sense. if that's true then we can't condemn an LBS for trying to fill that niche.
However, if they are selling them to fully abled bodies and telling them to go rip it up on some of our non motorized trails them I'll get the torches and pitch forks and we should have us a local hangin'!

 

New York Times crossword today was fairly easy. Friday is supposed to be hard; it's supposed to be the flagship crossword puzzle in the nation.

I have made it my own tradition to do the three crosswords in the Long Beach Press Telegram every day at lunch. People know not to interrupt. It is my "turn off work" hour and I will not let it go away. Besides, pitting myself against Will Shortz's editing can be fun sometimes. Other times, one must wonder what the hell he was thinking.

Totally worth the $1.50 per weekday. Weekends are the OC Register.
