Scammer alert...

Received this beauty of an email a couple days ago... I'm selling a wheelset on CL...

I like how she never referred to the actual item as wheels and doesn't ask any questions. What i wanna know is, what's her end game to the scam?

 

Usually it's a bad check. I've heard they will "accidentally" write a check for more than the amount, then tell you, "No problem, last check I have. Just send me the difference keeping some for yourself". Then you take the check to the bank and it's someone else's routing number or the account does not exist.

I have sold a ton of stuff on Craigslist, and would say that about 75% of the people who contact you are just wasting your time. However for the 25% out there that are legit, they are normally honest decent people who are ALSO worried about getting scammed. I always try to be open and honest with people, but as soon as someone starts to jerk me around I just stop responding to them - it isn't worth your time or effort.
