This one has all the makings of a death march... 10 miles of road to get to the start (1000 feet), followed by 9 miles of Harding (3300 feet), and then 4 miles more to get to Santiago Peak (1300+ feet). At mile 24ish we'll get some downhill through the chunkiest section of Main Divide below Santiago Peak. At mile 27ish, we'll pass the Holy Jim trailhead, also known as the one and only bailout point before setting out across Main Divide another 7ish miles (1400 feet) for Trabuco Trail. Trabuco Trail is a hair over 4 miles, and drops 2200 feet through distinct zones... Fast and twisty up top, loose rock and exposure in the middle section, followed by a fast romp at creek level to the finish. From the exit of the Trabuco Trail, we'll take the Trabuco Wash another 6 miles downhill back to civilization. With gears, this can be ridden easily at 30 mph- passing cars like they are standing still. Watch for incoming traffic... The 4x4 crowd isn't always nice. Once back to civilization, there's a short road climb to get to the top of the mesa, and then a 5 minute flat spin to get back to the cars... And tacos.
My treat for @UPSed if he makes it down here!

Temps are supposed to be much cooler next weekend!

Me and my big mouth. Apparently I've been called out? If I show up do I need to pick one gear and stay in it or can I use my shifter? :gag: FYI I eat a lot of tacos!

You can shift, but don't let them hear it. That triggers all sorts of reactions such as increased pace and maniacal laughter...:whistling:

Shift away! After a ride like this, you might opt for one of the monster burritos...

If we're lucky, we might even have a @herzalot and @Cougar sighting.

You know... This may be the one time that you could legitimately claim to join for part of a death march. We may even run into each other out there.

There is always the option of going up Holy Jim, and joining the ride at the MD and down Trabuco........ Just saying.

Yeah... Can't imagine why nobody wants to commit to a ride that puts the downhill at mile 35! :whistling: They're always talking about earning their descents. :p

There's a very short list of guys on here who will sign up for a ride that puts off the fun section until mile 35...

Ed will be fine... He'll probably try and talk us into going on to San Juan!

I’m 85% in right now. Depending on pace I’m either all the way or dropping holy jim.
