IMTB has had me constantly facepalmed this week. The most talented and brave mt. bikers in the world are preparing for the biggest event in hard-core mt. biking, and we have 4 active road-centered threads going on at the same time, plus Cyclocross, Dodgers and an escalator up-skirt video.

Sorry to cross post, but this should help bring back some of the MTB to IMTB Trails.

    https://www.pinkbike.com/news/red-bull-rampage-2017-first-practice-sessions-video.html

Cue all y'all commenting about how this isn't mt. biking, blah blah blah....

Oh - if any one of you says they haven't "earned their turns" I will come to your house and vomit in your cycling shoes.

I'm gonna out someone right now...

Many of you don't know that the beast of hardtail, singlespeed climbing - one @mtnbikej - or J-Zilla - was a hardcore DHer for a while. I believe he owned three Santa Cruz Bullits before retiring from that side of gravity and embracing the ugly side of gravity's pull.

That is why he is my hero. :inlove:

I read somewhere that there are no carbon frames in the event. That can't be true, can it?

    Thank You Mr. Herzalot.
Myself (I posted the Dodgers hey SoCal thing) But I also posted the Strava Descenders stuff so that Karma evens out ;)
I have been watching, thinking, doing banging down the mountain stuff whenever I can.
I will be watching a bunch of Rampage, and surrounding/auxiliary stuff over the weekend.
I also watch a of the how to's etc..etc.. like this not entirely helpful but good / funny.
    https://www.pinkbike.com/news/how-to-whip-with-kyle-jameson-video.html

(Ok hopefully I past the test?)

Oh my theory on the Carbon... carbon is tough ... but if you are knowinglu going to put your bike in a failure position I think metal is better as it may "Fail" more gracefully i.e. Bend first instead of snap. Carbon for most of us, never gonna get there...these guys... whole different stratosphere.

Yeah bastage @mtnbikej still has me beat on a bunch of descents from like 2011...

Its fun to watch a few runs. There are some very impressively huge moves. But I've kinda lost interest in it, honestly. It was a lot more interesting when it was more on natural terrain vs the manicured jumps, extensive building and going big as possible that prevails now.

You really think that if they were dropping off the same stuff over the last 10+ rampages that it would even be this popular? Rampage is about progression and upping the ante, this isnt a game of Horse.

you are crazy if you think those are not natural terrain. You could never build a park run to mimic the easiest line down rampage.
