    I am coming up on my second anniversary of mountain biking. I bought a GT hardtail for my 60th birthday to see if I liked it. Turns out I love it and now that I am retired I have more time to ride! I bought a Scott Genius 920 which I probably don't deserve, but hey, you only live once!
    I live in Santa Clarita but do most of my riding in the Santa Monica mountains - like out to where they filmed the tv show Mash, and the Backbone trail off Mulholland Dr. Just went camping at Shaver Lake and rode the perimeter trail where I learned how to get lost and unlost out in the middle of nowhere. Always looking for rides when not binge watching Bosch - us old guys got to stick together!

    I've only ridden in your area a few times, but there are a lot of guys on here who practically live in those hills. I'd be surprised if you haven't run into some of them out there.

    I'm down in south Orange County, and ride frequently in the Santa Ana Mountains...

    I've driven past Shaver Lake a bunch on my way up to Vermillion Valley/Lake Thomas Edison. Nice scenery up there!

    Shaver is a great area. My bucket list includes riding from either Shaver or Huntington over Kaiser Pass to Edison. :cool:
