Greetings everyone, 1man here fresh to the sport and I see that this is the place to start.
Have a bike and gathering up the gear, then hit up those Bunny trails and be that FNG in a sport I've never tried. Looks fun, scary, crazy, consuming, bone crushing(youtube videos) challenging and sounds like my
    new passion!
But I know, baby steps. Well I am hoping to meet up with people and groups to ride with and learn the ropes with.
Looking forward to making some friends and learning how not to hit a tree!! LOL

Welcome to the sport! You're already ahead of me... I lurked for years before I ponied up and joined the social fray.
There are more trails around southern California than there are BMWs on the freeway, and they will take you to views you never imagined.

    Howdy, welcome to the forum.

There's plenty of not so crazy trails around me and it's not too far from you. Let me know if you want to ride, I can show you the Puente/Whittier Hills areas from the Narrows to Pathfinder. Lots to ride in-between.

    Welcome @1man
This is a great place to get in to mountain biking. Every level of crazy is here.
Like some have said, what makes a forum work is participation. Don't be afraid to ask questions and ask if some ride invites in the Trailhead Forum are a good one to join in on. Only way to get better is to stretch and grow dem muscles and tech skills.
If you are half as energetic as your Avatar, you will do just fine here. ;)

^^ What they all said - good group here and always willing to chime in regardless of the subject.
Several of us started at the Fullerton Loop which is centrally located; check with Fullerton Bikes for their shop rides (there used to be a regular group on Thursday evenings). Also Chino Hills will get yours lungs in shape - check out the recent ride report from @Faust29 and @mtnbikej

Welcome to IMTB Trails and to the sport of mt. biking @1man. There are some myths and half-truths above. Myth #1 - there are beginner friendly rides posted in Trailhead. Nope. In fact, some of the guys here post and ride some of the most ridiculously long and challenging rides known to all of mt. biking (@mtnbikej, @Faust29 and @mike to name a few.). Most of the rest of us are mere mortals. Half-truth - Dont' follow Josh. Truth. Don't follow Josh, Jason, Steve, Mike, Mikie, Luis, Burt, Tom, Tom, Tom, Mark, Mark, Dio, James or even England Dan and John Ford-Coley. OK, that's not fair. They are all very gracious when dealing with riders of less experience/skill/stamina than themselves.

I can't speak for LA County or Inland Empire, but I have heard that the Fullerton Loop is indeed a good place to learn. Wherever you ride, take it at your pace. Don't be ashamed to walk - either up or down. Be patient with yourself.

    Happy pedaling and welcome!

Oh - one more truth. Fashion matters.

@1man, Be not intimidated by the screed above. There truly are beginner-friendly rides posted in Trailheads. Why, just a year ago, or so, I posted up a jaunt up GMR and down Monroe Truck Trail. A truly newb-friendly route!! And it's an absolute riot no matter the speed at which it is approached.

But that said, you should also ride with @herzalot. He is truly a considerate ride leader...I know this, because I followed him through Santiago Oaks one fine morning and was not disappointed. Yes, there are many on this forum who are animals. Their rides should be seen as a goal; not necessarily in this decade, but still. :p Hope to see you reply on this thread soon, because otherwise we may think you aren't paying attention. o_O

(And truly, fashion is not nearly as important as one may think)
