Music... I Listened to Some

Listening right now... has some Warren Zevon meets Roger Waters feel to it.

 

Thanks, David. I will pass that along to Jeff, and I know he will appreciate your listening to it – whether or not you liked it. But that is a big compliment for a guy producing tunes on his Mac for grins in a nook of his home.

Stunningly, he tells me that most of the friends he gives his music to don't even listen to it. Befuddling!

 

I dig it, would fit well in my garage playlist. Now I feel like heading out there for a beer and seeing how it sounds on the JBL speaker.

 

Love me some Zevon! With the layers I was catching a little bit of a shoe gaze feel, like a Jesus and Mary chain or My Bloody Valentine demos.

 

Yeah, the fuzz guitar brings that out as well. Would be a good live gig!

 

Had the pleasure of seeing Dave Alvin and The Guilty Ones at the Novo in DTLA


He opened for one of my all time faves, X.

 

What a GREAT show... totally jealous!!!

 

I’m hoping to catch Dave Alvin again in January. He’ll be performing somewhere in Echo Park. Probably a small venue which would be awesome.

I’m currently reading the book from the singer of Agnostic Front, Roger Merrit. You want to talk agro the New York Hard Core scene was next level.

 

Hey, saddletramps, throw an ear on this if you like Almann Brothers style jam. Fantastic lyrics. From well before that silly Devil Went Down to Georgia stuff.

 

Just touched on this one during the Sunday dinner prep shuffle. Good chit man. Slippin' into darkness with War ahora.

The master! Joe Walsh House Of Blues 2017, been a fan of his from the beginning and FINALLY saw him. Joe did say the performance was being recorded, two spot on drummers, master of the talk box, awesome! Hopefully it will be out there somewhere? Never mind the video, one of best hook guitarist of all time! Really bummed I never saw Tom before he left us!

 

Live music is the best music!

 

Getting around to watching PJ's Chicago show on Amazon. after Social D, they're the band I've seen the most. Lived and breathed PJ through the 90's, then started having babies, finally at the point where I can see them again. After missing the Lightning Bolt tour, I'm just waiting for the next N.A. tour!

 

I like Pearl jam but I've only recently realized that they are kind of like the new Grateful dead. I had drinks with a couple of donors recently and they were telling me that they plan their vacations base on where PJ is playing.

 

They are a very fan-forward band. I think any band that sticks around for 25 years without growing super huge and out of touch is going to have a similar fandom. You basically grow up together.
Some of my happiest moments and best memories have been at their shows. Who wouldn't want to follow that feeling all summer long!
