Oh man! Not this again. Gotta give it to these guys though, they keep on trying. It seems like every couple of years, for going on 20+ years, someone has tried to make a buck by charging to use the ski area for mtb during the summer.
There is one very good trail, that is less than 2 miles long and the rest is steep-ass, chunky fireroads.
    I wouldn't pay $30.

Check it out for "free" you can ride up Mt. Waterman trail to the top and explore and ride back down you can get about 5+ miles round trip ride it twice very beautiful singletrack nice views all around. Best to do it during the week like me and @Andy did only seen 2 people the entire way! Fun singletrack to ride on the way down to. Heck ride it 3 times you wind up w/ over 3000ft. of climbing.

The Butt Pirates...I mean, Gravity pirates... were trying to build some DH trails up there a few years ago. I went up one time when some friends were helping them out and we rode most of one trail that was under construction. Never heard if they actually finished it or worked on any others. The xc/hiking trail is nice but very short, and there were tons of hikers on it the day we were there. It wouldn't be a good mix with chairlift access given all the hikers, if that is the only trail.

Mt Waterman isn't even up high enough to be a good ski area, is it?

They get quite a bit of snow up there. Problem is it is too hard to get to. Its like 50+ mile of single lane mountain driving comin up the 2 hwy. Come up the other way and you hit Wrightwood first. Why bother driving further for less?

I you've never been, it's worth the trip. The best riding is provisionally restricted and unenforced. Don't do it, but it runs right through the area and is well marked. I wouldn't go toward Baden Powell either.

I know the area pretty well, just not on a bike. There's great(er) stuff nearby.
