Ha!!!!! A hatchback with a rear mounted engine. Bet it smelled great in there and silent.

 

The article says the Gol was a front engine.
We had a couple of squarebacks when I was a kid. Engine right there in back under the carpet.

My German is getting more rusty by the day, but I stumbled through an article in "Die Zeit".

Apparently, the VW group submitted a memo July 2016 outlining the collusion, because they knew it was going to be found anyway. Their confession covered VW, Porsche, and Audi. Daimler may have taken the same strategy in an effort to mitigate any potential penalties. I guess he who squeals first, gets the deal!

The Die Zeit article also says that over 200 individuals from the companies were aware and complicit. They even found a Powerpoint presentation prepared for the board members of each company outlining the collusion, but can't prove whether or not the presentation was delivered...

 

Will be interesting to see what comes of this collusion. Comments in the Jalop article seem to think that no German/EU prosecution will follow from it.
I love how it seems to be blamed on the DEF requirements. "If only we could put in a larger container, none of this would have happened..."

Wonderful....it is so authentic, they even remembered to mount the front bumper at a slight angle (2:03 on the video). Nice Wolfburg crest on the steering wheel too.

 

Having had a plug in hybrid (Volt) for a year now, this new Audi all electric offering looks pretty cool, albeit way out of our price range.
