Coming up on the Winter Series. Let's go have some fun ridinrox OOOOPs I mean, riding rocks.
I DO like ridin rocks so my name is quite fitting ...
I'm hoping to be at every DH race during the season - not sure if I'll make this Sunday, my bike w it's lighter springs won't be ready.
There once was a time - and a mythical internet place - where Fontana posts and stories came in fast and furious, going three or four pages per race. They would start the week before the race with excited newbs wondering how it all works out there in Fontana, and veterans encouraging them to come on out and give it a try. Then, on Thursday or Friday, someone would venture out there and see the course layout (DH, maybe Super D, heck even some XC peeps) and they would post pictures or video of the courses. The anticipation was awesome. Then, after the race came the stories of triumph and mishap - the coulda, shoulda, woulda talk that comes from everyone who didn't win, and the photos - tons of photos from the pro photogs on the course to the snaps in the pits.
Now, both here and there...crickets. So sad.
Unfortunately I am working Saturday, so no Fontana this week for me, unless I race Sunday with minimal course inspection and practice (like maybe two-runs worth). Doubtful, but my DH bike is bitching at me for neglect.
I think all is needed is time...
That symbiotic relationship that comes to a place like this, comes with time.
I can't let my impatience for growth get in the way.
The core of imtbtrails is expanding, and with some of the most awesome people I might add!
Everywhere I go, I have a box of imtbtrails biz cards to spread the word.
Fontana will never know we exist, or that we care unless we spread the word...
...spread the word.
I'm out this weekend, unfortunately. My contusion isn't healing. I need to stay off the leg for awhile.
I really wanted to redeem myself this weekend - I have no chance on beating Jenny but I can give Brandy a good run for her money.
Until then, I'll just pout on the couch while I R.I.C.E.
If you want, I can come down and massage that leg . . . or the other; or both!
Just trying to be helpful like the helpful Honda guy.
Helpful is good. But instead of massaging can I borrow your legs? I have some azz kicking to do.
Stop whining, get your a$$ out there and show us how it's done.
You're our ambassador...go AM BASS!!
Hey Mikie! My legs are a bit sore.......wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean???
I haven't seen your legs Chris-P  . . . . I've seen Rox's!
They're pretty good. I mean not as good as Roxey"s but....
 DUDE! Those legs look fried! (pun intended :? )
You need more than I can provide
. . . and don't call Rox, Roxey . . . she don't like it.
(See Rox . . . a man that DOES listen!)
Change work schedules with me? I have to whine a little. I love my job, but it does not afford much time.
Besides - my complaint is about the fairly sudden lack of interest in Fontana racing by those who post on STR (before the STR Implosion of 2014), and the relative indifference to DH racing and low participation in posting on this site. There is definitely an uptick in posting here right now, so I am going to continue to encourage and yes, provoke a little. As you know, we recovering Catholics have a penchant for inflicting - and feeling - guilt.
Love you all - keep riding and writing and riding and writing and rioting and writhing!
BTW - Chris P Bacon's post about legs was genius!
ChrisP - between your handle, the Monty Python reference and this bacon/leg post - you are now in the rarified air of IMTB's best posts. And don't take this the wrong way, but one look at your legs, and I started salivating!
Mmmmmmmmmmm Baaaacconnnn. Aggggg (Homer Simpson sounds)
I'm waiting for my Turner Burner to be built (been almost a month since I ordered it!) before I can go try my hand at a Enduro racing. I've got my eye on the Vail Lake Enduro series for me to take last place in.
I'm not going to take my 100mm hardtail on a DH course
As I age, they're looking more and more like strips of crispy bacon. Just keep your tongues off my legs!!!!
Bacon legs!!!! YUM!
ChrisP, you are the bomb!   Gotta add the deliverance guy to the list of awesome posts.
Now I have to know whether you are male or female - that will determine the style in which I profess my love for your posts. Bro fist bump or flirtatious innuendo. :?
Don't worry Rox, it's not like that.
HAHA Herzalot! No need to get your chickie all worked up, I'm a dude. Sorry... But I'll still take some of that "flirtatious innuendo" if you want to pass it around.
And thanks for enjoying the humor in my posts, I enjoy yours too! Maybe we need start up a "Bromance"? LOL
Ohh please please...I wanna see dude on dude!! No fair it's a double standard.
Maybe watch Downtown Abby to get in the mood...hahaha
C'mon Rox - all women know it's not Downtown it's Downton! Sheeesh. Turn in your chick card immediately. Oh crap - I know it's Downton Abbey. Oh well, I turned in my man card about 4 years ago.
And as for my namesake and a Bromance - closest you'll ever see is a manly bro hug, followed by a right-proper belch!
I will have to make it out to a practice day!
Carpool! I will buy any meal item valued at less than $5.
What EXACTLY is going on here!?!?!?
This was a lets go racin at Fontana thingy, and now... We're back to thinking about licking rox's legs? (Is that a Freudian Slip???) :wtf:
Lets go do some XC laps in the wind this weekend...or bomb downhill.
Bromance should be another thread, shortly followed by Fearless Fly's appearance to this forum and the accompanying pics.
Yeah!!...keep your classroom under control and your kids on topic, Teach.
From this day forward, no one will think about, lick or eat crispy bacon or you'll be suspended.
CpB change your name!
HEY! Don't drag me and my name through the grease here! I'm not changing MY name cuz dudes be thinking your legs is bacon!
Back on topic. I'm hoping to get out there and try some DH.
I'll be out there on Sunday watching the Fullerton Bikes Team race.
Look for the girl w long strips of bacon for legs ...
Wind was pretty bad Saturday. So much so they moved the XC race from 0930 to 3pm. Not sure it helped much, but I wasn't out there in the AM. My second lap the wind was considerably worse. I crested the top and a gust of wind promptly blew me over sideways into the rocks. That's why I wear my pads! It must have looked hilarious to the course marshal up there. The wind also was very good about literally stopping me as I was struggling to pedal up that fvcking pavement. When I finished the Waambulance was waiting and perked me right up.
Looking forward to the next race and hopefully better weather conditions.
Fontana - land of highwinds, intense heat, rain and sometimes perfect racing conditions. You just never know what you're gonna get (well, I guess NOAA can give you a good idea a few days in advance). I remember one year, waaaay back in maybe 2010 or 2011 where almost every Winter Series race saw tacky dirt, calm and cloudy weather - it was awesome "Back in my day" story brought to you by wanna be, but never was.
Oh - congrats to the man known as Sh***y who won his class (expert 43-something) by a long shot in DH. Like 9 seconds over second place on a 2:30 course. Way to put the hammer down, Mark!
