Second posting here in two days!
Good news: I seem to be 95% over this virus! Yesterday was the breakthrough. Today was a pretty normal day! Time to start putting on some miles!
More good news: I got to go for an 11 mile ride with the firstborn today! He's getting over being sick as well (was worse than I was), so we took it easy and kept it flat. Nice ride around town!

Got in a nice little 28 minute put up the hill and back down in town before sunset. Mileage, speed, distance, elevation gain, calories burned, and time riding don't matter. I got out, I got my heart rate up, I sweat a little, I had fun.

I noticed that the mini headlight on my roadie wouldn't stay on so I took the back cover off when I got home to replace the batteries. Well, I'll be damned, it's a rechargeable light, plugs into a USB outlet. All these years I have had it, I have never had to recharge it. My roadie sees the least amount of action in my quiver, but still. I have had this little light for a solid 5 years.

I'm trying to stay home as much as I can with the pup since his surgery. So I spent two hours on Zwift yesterday in the bedroom while he slept.

Does that count as a "road" ride?

Counts as a workout. Necessary, but the closest thing there is to "junk miles." ;)

I road my bike through the riverbed today to check out the homeless problem... seems most of them are in Anaheim now and not so much Santa Ana.

I disagree. You were spinning on a firm, man made surface, which by definition fits the description of a "road" as well. :D

Also, I have to assume that the gearing is more road-bike like?

I use a smart trainer, which provides feedback to the wheel. On that night I did a simulated 33 mile, 3400' climbing route, so you end up using your shifters. Annoying since my rear tire is apparently no good on a metal roller (spin out under high watts).

Just when I convert the Trance X back into a mountain bike my buds want to go for a road ride. I probably would have passed but Vince wanted to hang out with the crew. He put some slicks on his bike and I pulled the '90 Bianchi down from the rafters. The plan was to ride SART starting at Anaheim Stadium to the beach and back. Down SART the homeless area is creepy. One tent had hundreds of misc. bike parts in his space. All stolen? nah, couldn't be. We cruised to the beach effortlessly. Once there we changed the plan to ride up the back bay(?). This would be new pavement for Vince and I. Cruised back up enjoying the social pace. Passed by parts of Peters Cyn and Oaks. Even the little hill in front of Irvine Park got charred. Yep, a fun day on the road bike.

That was a fun ride and the crew are all top notch people. It never stops to amaze me when you see the damage of a fresh fire scene. We saw a number of areas where the fire had jumped across Santiago Rd right in between homes. Real lucky homeowners.

I jumped on my roadie right after dropping my daughter off at school. "Beat the heat". That was my goal. As I headed toward the Rose Bowl to do what turned out to be 3 laps, I passed through pockets of air with varying temps. From warm to cool and back and forth all the way there. By the time I had finished my 3rd lap, it was starting to heat up and by the time I got home, it was already pushing 90.

I was a little surprised about how many other people had the "beat the heat" plan going on because the Rose Bowl was fairly busy with walkers/runners. Almost no cyclists, though.

52 mile loop to Strong beach with @Fueledbyex8. I never thought I’d see the day that Albert rode clipless on a road bike!

Mostly road and flat-ish after being sick all week. No coughing, and felt pretty good on the climbing that there was. Tried to drag the boy along, and he was sort of game to try, but ended up turning around and going home. I had a great time out there, and wanted to keep going, but the sun was going down and I didn't want to push it. Local Christmas parade tonight, so a lot of streets were blocked on the way back in. We went to that later on and it was a great time.

Rode from home this mrng. wasn't planning on riding my 1st. century ride! Plan was just ride from Whittier to New Port and return. My legs felt really good stronger than usual, 3 scrambled eggs and a cup of cofee and off I went at 7am. Picture below approaching Seal Beach.

Riding through the Back Bay dr. headed to Irvine,

Getting close to Shady cyn. dr. Cleveland national forest in the distance.
    20171210_094221-1.jpg

Making my way up and over Shady cyn. traveling up New Port dr. now I get to coast it all the way down to PCH.
    20171210_105059-1.jpg

Every thing was going fine until I got back on PCH right before I go over the bridge that passes SART, I get a flat!
    20171210_114201-1.jpg

Well back on the road, I head north via the SGRT. about 15mi. in I see a fellow rode biker changing a flat I ask if he's ok? he replies yes thanks. I recognize this guy make a you turn and ask him, are you Tinker Juarez? he says yes! Wow!! I was pleased to meet him. I did ask him if I could help him change his tire even offered him my new Lezyne pump, not that he needs my help but it's good to offer
    20171210_134324-1.jpg
To meet a legend in mountain biking like Tinker was very cool, on my first century ride was even more surprising.

One of my MTB highlights is staying ahead of Tinker on one of the downhills at Vail Lake. When he passed me a minute later on the flats like I was standing still, I got a "nice job!"

    He always seems classy...

Winter seasonal party at work today, meant I ate prosciutto, cheese, salami, quiche, chips and salsa all day... so feeling really sluggish. Got home, hopped on my go to bike mentioned elsewhere today, and spun up some really neat streets. Great climb with a real kicker at the end, leading to some great trails in a small park. Then home!

I tells ya all... if you want a road bike, something that can be set up with a road + wheel is the way to go!
