I never had a summer off in education, but I certainly resented those who did! :alien:

I will not ride today, because it's 45 and raining! Now, tomorrow on the other hand...

I didn't ride a bike today because I watched our $100,000+ walk in a ceremony at Cal Poly Pomona.
Thankfully, a mid June afternoon in Pomona was actually cool. I was afraid it was gonna be hot.

I expected more action in this thread. Wishful thinking to feel like less a lightweight, I guess... Well, thanks to @bvader, for reportage on Whiting which has supplied me a modicum of salvation.

My Sunday plan went from burly to burlier, then... Daybreak drizzle with a persistence that was a little surprising. No issue, I'll scale it back and leave later. Later eventually became noon with no change in conditions, so I bagged it altogether. Monday availability says good move. Follow conditions...words to live by.

I hope everybody had a great weekend. :geek:

I appreciate that! I'm hoping to inspire her to wear a fanny pack just like daddy.

  8. I've been off the bike the past 3 days, celebrating my wife's birthday. It was a much needed escape and relax.

We've been super busy with some unexplained medical stuff. No time to ride. I did, however, get to take my son to see his first motorcycle race at Costa Mesa Speedway on Saturday. He was glued to it, took it very seriously!

Studying all day - except the hour I took to have a late breakfast with my fam, and the two hours I took to go to Baccalaureate. Oh and the hour I took this morning watching the World Cup DH.

A LOT going on this time of year, but it's all good.

So I have been off the bike for the better part of a week.

I had an abbreviated ride a week ago Sunday when my pet rock, er: kidney stone decided to start its migration to my bladder. To be on the safe side I chose to take a few days off.

In the interim, I also got an infection in my leg from falling in the poison oak on Memorial Day weekend....a first for me.

Well I tried to ride on Saturday....I was assigned the sweep at the Non Dot Caspers race. By mile 2, I was already not feeling so hot. I was happy to be back at the car at 5.9 miles. We left immediately and headed home. By the time we got home, I was achy, had the chills, a 101* fever. Let's just say I took it easy yesterday.

I guess this is the universe telling me I need to take a break. So I am using this as a forced break. I doubt I'll ride this week week as well. Perhaps by the weekend I'll be ready to get back on the bike.

^^ No worries, pal. You know that a little break always leads to quality action. Good work with the discretion! Stay low and harvest some psyche as long as you need.

I haven't ridden since... What day is it, anyway???

My last serious ride was on Sunday, and then a couple flat short pavement/dirt spins along the river in Eugene, Oregon. Then we packed a dorm room. It's amazing how much stuff can fit in such a small space. And that doesn't count all the things he hid before his mother got there... :stop: :whistling:  :cautious:

Persistent, thick fog made me postpone my roadie to Oceanside till tomorrow...
Walked to the beach and found a bike shop.
Phillips and flatheads, set of allens, headset/pedal wrench, two cone wrenches, and two steel tire levers.

Cool! Spending time with my boy beats riding any day, plenty of time to ride when they no longer want us around!

City of Long Beach installed a few of those at the Civic Center:oops:. I think they lasted 2-3 weeks before the differently domiciled cut the cables and swiped the stuff. Not sure how they destroyed the pump, but they managed.

Son hinted heavily that it was too hot to ride on Sat. So we paddled from Heisler Park to Tortuova Cove, showered, changed and ran home. (So, basically, he didn't want to get smoked on the bike. :) ) He crushed me on the run home. Then swam, paddlesurfed and bodysurfed all day Sunday with son and fam.

Gonna try for a mid-week ride.

    Summer is here.

Watching my son so we are out messing around in the garage. Just weighed my RIP with the new Wahoo and Minion DHF 2.5 WT, came out to 28lbs even, not bad at all since I was at 27.5lbs before with the Tomahawk up front and no Wahoo.

...because I had a hankering to get in the water. I haven't surfed since October. So, my longboard and I headed out to Trail 6. I have never seen the parking lots at San Onofre Bluffs (Trails) this empty on a Sunday in June no matter what the wave height. I am guessing the sharks have spooked a lot of surfers. As expected, my arms were gassed pretty quickly. But it was fun to catch a couple of decent rides with barely anybody out in the water. The rocks at Trails SUUUCCCK! 5 years ago you could walk to the water without crossing a huge bank of rocks - no longer. :( Maybe we can take some of the sand from Barham ridge and relocate it to the beach.

Maybe five more sessions on the Mal' and I can get back to my shorter boards. Love my 6'2" Fish.

Oh, and technically this is IMTBTrails, so I guess I will not try to turn it into ISTrails.
