Emergency Contact Info

You distracted bunch of hooligans! I’m not talking about riding alone, I’m talking about when we ride together and one of us gets hurt bad. I wanna make sure I take good care of my buddy if he goes down.

I guess that excludes you from the stop at Pahrump on the way home from riding Vegas then.

Well, the question remains. How do we cure this group riding dilemma? Perhaps a sign in sheet prior to each departure?

I wear a road ID and carry my wallet in the CamelBak. My biggest fear is ending up at county hospital without them knowing I have insurance.

Unfortunately the difference in care between those with health insurance and those without is significant. Maybe not initially, but definitely as time goes on.
One thing I have verified is that by insurance covers air medivac as a covered ambulance service.

I do not have any contact info on my phone lock screen. That opens your family up to scammers if the phone is stolen or lost.

Unfortunately, I do not think any of my riding buddies have any contact info for friends or family. They are my friends, and almost family!

 

I ALWAYS ride with my ID and health ins card.

 

What might be the down side of having a private forum with our emergency contact phone numbers? I know the weezl would appreciate the existence of such a forum.

 

I needed to make a new copy of mine so I just made copies of my DL/insurance cards and taped them together with clear tape so I have a double sided color copy of both that is water resistant.

 

Good to know the nearest hospital to ride location, ahead of time, for self-rescue planning purposes.

 

When riding alone my wife is fully aware of my intended route. She also has my logon to my STRAVA account so she knows what my typical routes are when I ride solo.
When riding in a group I figure you fine gents will drag my carcass down the hill, unless you're like @rossage and prefer the comfort of a rescue helicopter
A road ID bracelet sounds like a great idea, also carrying a copy of my insurance card. I carry an expired drivers license and some money in my pack just in case. The problem is when I don't carry my pack and prefer to ride as light as possible...
The sign up sheet is an option probably but then who gets to carry it? Or leave it in the car?

That's a good point. I guess the only thing I could think of is who is on it, who is not... and if someone got on their that went rogue or planned rogue all along exploiting that info. I know we are only talking about phone numbers, but some folks (like me) would not like that public based on my job. Just trying to see all the angles.

 

Just let Equifax administer it, they'll be sure to keep the info safe from hackers!

Once again...All you need is Road ID. It has all the right information and you can't forget it because you're wearing it.

 

I have this (left side of pic)... it comes out of my wallet (right side of pic) to be carried separately and has slots for DL, health insurance card, debit and/or credit card, cash, etc. Weighs nothing, and makes life easy. Problem is I don't remember where I got it.

 

My issue is, I don't take the time to get any contact info ahead of time from my riding partners. Having that info – my riding partners' phone number and spouse's phone number – privately available to my wife would be a boon. Many of our riding areas have no or spotty cel reception, and different phone services may work differently, so more communication options is good.

Why not just list Cornholio's number and Cornholio's wife's number? Still anonymous. Mikie's screwed on that one.

 

Sounds like it's time to add an Application to Join Posted Ride form to go along with the Trailhead form. That's where OP can gather desired info such as emergency contact info. As a side plus, attendees can specify their favorite beer so the organizer knows what to bring.

 

Everyone knows where I live and how to contact me. When I think of the knuckeheaded rides I have done solo...hahaha! Makes sitting at a desk tolerable. Rides from home always include intel to my wife; rides in the bush involve either a note left on the car dashboard or hotel front desk of where, when, how, and how long, or a message with a designated friend with resources in the event my wife would disapprove of my whereabouts.

 

This has gone down the proverbial rabbit hole.
