Kernville's Cannell Plunge Saturday May 21st...
This may be an unusual Cannell Plunge ride as we may be leaving the shuttle car at the bottom of Sherman Pass Road as the gate may still be closed and climbing up to the pass so we can do the trail. The paved climb would be 15 miles (about 1 hour 40 mins) to get to the trailhead.

So for those of you who are adventurers...?
If there is no interest then we'll wait till they open the access gate to drop a vehicle at the Sherman Pass parking lot.

Let me know, if you wanna go. We have to strategize the Shuttle vehicles...

My brother works at the Kernville work station, we can try and ask him for the key to the gate......

 

I know you said "we".... But, did you ask him?

 

I wish I could join...sounds like a great time.

 

It might easier to say yes to a group of strangers than his own brother. Plus he has not gotten back to me yet. He may be on a fire or at Blackrock lookout.

 

If the road is closed I would still expect snow patches on the trail and downed trees. This has epic in the dark finish written all over it, especially if you climb up. Can't wait for the TR!

 

The tress get cleared fast because the motos come in from the bottom and clear as they go. There would not be good riding in Kernville without the moto support. The forest service does not clear deadfall very fast.

Let's just wait until the Government say's we can ride our bikes on Cannell Plunge.

 

Bring a light, a jacket and a lighter – long day/forced bivy problem solved. Or at least mitigated.

 

I'm waiting until the shuttle is running. Probably beginning of next month.

Ok this just in...
Mountain River Adventures will start their shuttles Memorial Day weekend. The forestry service will open the Sherman pass Rd that weekend

 

My club is one of many groups that get called in to remove the deadfall. Within the next few weeks. Dirt bikers with chainsaws no less.

If I'm not mistaken, and I may be, but I think the Cannel Plunge Trail allows motorized vehicles.
