The bird was trapped inside a commercial building corridor. It was exhausted from all the flapping around trying to escape so it was an easy capture. I took it outside, snapped a quick picture, and Watched it fly off. It was a rewarding moment. I just hope thats not the SOB that sings all night long in my neighborhood throughout the Sprimg and Summertime.

This is pretty smart on their part. Hopefully they'll fight against the toll road extension through there.

 

They take a section off me every year. Half of those customers are disappointed when I tell them they won't see me until January.

 

Explosive, wind driven fires!!!

This is scary stuff. The fire in Ventura is looking a bit like the one that wiped out Napa. Now we have a new one near Little Tujunga Canyon.

The Costco I go to in Laguna Niguel has a bird inside that has been there for a year or more according to the staff. People stop and take it's photo, and I'm guessing lives off all the free samples.

Go rescue it, or not.... It seems content enough.

Yea the wind is really gusting here in Sylmar. Looks like the flames are reaching the ridge above Kagel and Lopez canyons.

Guys. There was a fire in the hills around the San Fernando building this morning and we were evacuated. Please report to Van Nuys at start time. 16000 Arminta St VN 91406

Definitely going to be a long day.

No bueno with the winds through Thursday.

 

My shipment comes through the Bakersfield Hub and I got my delivery yesterday at exactly 4:00pm (when my post offices closed )
Shipped orders this morning! Yeah!

 

You guys have heard about Ventura, right? 3300 acres toasted in no time, now over 150 structures gone, many of which are $1m to $2m homes. A mental hospital and apartment complex toasted. Winds up to 70 and 80mph!
Fires suck!

The road to Chantry was closed...to cars. Me and Vu went up and did a quick loop
Lots of branches down, and tons of leaf litter on the trails. Hides those rocks real well.

I was a little worried about driving into the fire zone for work this morning but the smell of money blanketed the smell of theexpected smoke. Well, I got out of there probably right before evacs were . I tried to head straight toward home, the way I came but the land was ablaze. HUGE flames blowing sideways engulfing the roadway (4 lanes across) reaching from one side to the other. Emergency vehicles were blocking the way. I did a quick 180 and got the heck out of there, soon joined by part of the community that was already leaving. The roads were slammed with cars leaving the area, total gridlock. Slowly, it started to move and from there I was amidst the traffic of those trying to get back into my community. Had to drive all the way around the Verdugos via Burbank/Glendale. I am going to get important documents together now in case we have to go.

I absolutely wreak of smoke.

This is just horrible in so many ways. @mike the thank was because you posted, but geez!
I heard that even MY commute home on the western 138 from the 24 to I5 is going to be rough. That sad face is not for me but all the folks who have lost stuff and those inconvenienced by the whole debacle.
Does anyone know what started it or is it too early to tell?
