Geez guys, I go offline for a bit because of an insane work schedule (“when the tuna are under the boat, you fish til they leave... or you’ve caught all of them.”) and you let them grade Rock It? (Obviously kidding about blaming y’all).

Next week, gravel bed, then asphalt, then handrails.

Making the trails accessible to all!!!

Way to go Laguna Trail Mixers! (I presume).

Out for now and back to work.

Rock gardens are UNSAFE and do not allow the trails to be accessible for all!

What is about safety that you do not understand?

    Next question?

Oh, and the drainage was not flowing from the trail, we had to get the water off the trail.

    What- are you against drainage?

So, you are unsafe, and you are for the erosion of our trails ... you hate puppies and rainbows too amiright?

    Next question?

Accept, I don’t live in the city. I live in a cool
Little town by the beach, surrounded by city... and by people looking for “causes” and “purpose” in all of the wrong places.

Trail users have encroached to the west away from the rock garden and through the vegetation onto loamy soil to make the trail smoother, easier, and faster for their uses. I say load the ditch with Cholla, lotsa Cholla and let the good times roll.

Well then, surrounded is the key word, I’m still say sorry, I know you have been fighting this, change is for sure and this state is no where near what it used to be, change is on my doorstep, I don’t like it , but I will deal with it and adapt my choices accordingly.

I saw the equipment on the top of rockit on saturday and I knew it wasn't going to be good. If they wanted to create a P-Line, why didn't they just work with what was there instead of demo'ing the rocks to create a future bomb hole of a rut. It's cambered the entire wrong way and is likely going to lead to undermining teh rock face.

So... did they just grind off the west edge of the rock garden, to make the “ditch” wider and the rock line narrower, or did they blade off /smooth out the high points of the rock garden?

Looking at the pic, it looks like it’s that narrowish spot about 2o yards below the top of the rock garden, kind of above where the ditch tops out if I remember right, so they cut into the rocks so the ditch line could extend to the very top? If so thats silly but doesnt really stop us from riding the rocky line

That was a p-line that had turned into a non-draining, v-shaped ditch. I helped LCF with trail work a couple years ago and put in some drains on it that got water off to the descender's right. Seemed like an adequate fix.

The p-lines should've never been allowed to form, but there were a few years when Aliso trails were neglected due to lack of volunteers.

Now it looks wider, filled in and unsightly. My recommendation would be to fill it the rest of the way, plant it and rope the area off. Then cut that bush on the left that's encroaching on the original (rock) trail, and give riders and hikers room to pass each other and stay off the dirt.

Wow, what a disaster. TFPU, Tim.

Thanks for weighing in, Jim et al.

Why does it seem like land agencies in SoCal care so little about the MTB experience? State, counties and cities do so little to promote MTB tourism? WRT MTB, the more I see outside SC, the more I realize how far behind SoCal is.

The bigger question is why is the work done on rockit and the work done on the top of T&A an improvement for any user group? I honestly don't see how a dusty, blown out ditch with improper drainage is safer for any trail user groups then an undulating, but rock solid rock feature.

What's infuriating is that the answer is to destroy and modify natural terrain to the user groups (exactly which user group requested this again?) liking then to create options that also work with existing terrain. If there were an out crying from user groups that this feature was un-desirable from a user group, why wasn't a route around considered that wouldn't require damage to existing natural features.

This question needs an answer... and it's not even about us getting access or using a particular trail. Why do we need to keep destroying the rock features that make laguna interesting because any single (or multiple) people bitch.
