I just cruised to this site(it's been a long while) to see what is going on and found this gem of a ride opportunity. I am interested in the Summit/ Bear Creek and Camp Nelson trail rides.

    Thanks, Martino

Hey @evdog how do things look up there now? The shuttle service is stating that fire is out and no smoke! Not sure about the roads up there though. You have any info?

Click the link I posted! That is all the info I have access to.

It shows fire still active and only 60% contained, with the uncontained line right near Camp Nelson and Coy Flat. Closure map shows hard closure of the highway from Quaking Aspen to Springville and all trails in the area closed.

You might want to refer the shuttle service to that link before heading up there.

Just called Kern river ranger station they say Camp Nelson and Quaking Aspen are currently closed. The said he Cannell river trail is open but fire fighters are working along the trail. Any one have any other info. Mikie you get anything? Would hate to drive 4 hrs and ride in the conditions you guys had last year.

The smoke just adds an aura of mystery to the adventure. Well that and particulates for your lungs and other health hazards!

Better late than never right? I finished up Bear Creek trail work yesterday. It looks like the trail has had very little use this season. There is the Coy Flat exit and the Camp Nelson exit. I cleared the Camp Nelson exit but didn't get to the Coy Flat exit. I'm not sure if there are any downed trees on that part so beware.
