    Hi Everyone,

I just moved back to OC after being away for 10 years, and bought a new mountain bike after not going off road for about five years.

Now I want to ride, but apparently many trails will be closed tomorrow due to the storm. Can anyone recommend some easy trails that might be open and rideable tomorrow and monday? Experience level is Luge-ish, fitness level is shameful.

    Thanks!

    Welcome James!!!

Glad to have you here, hope to see lots of posts about lots of rides. I can't think of much in OC that would be ready tomorrow, other than maybe Maple Springs up to 4C. Cold and wet, though.

Fitness will come back in no time.

Welcome back, JH, and congratulations on getting back on the new horse.

You can out/back a numerous things in the Santa Anas, and have a ball doing it. The forest gate on Trabuco Creek Rd will be locked, so almost no car traffic past the gate. Park there near the gate or at the Wash and ride up Holy Jim or Trabuco Creek trail. Maybe some standing water, but virtually no mud. Trabuco gets steeper and rough past the West Horsethief split. (Be careful on Trabuco, as rocks tend to appear suddenly.) Both are super fun no matter where you turn around. Harding, Santiago and Maple Springs truck trails might have a few mud puddles, but are open. Likewise, just bomb down when you've had enough.

Welcome to Mikie's site. As @herzalot would say, ride/write lots!

Welcome back James! Probably not much dirt available tomorrow. Might have to be patient for a week or so.

Hope to hear about lots of rides in the near future, and perhaps even meet up for a ride some day. Ride often, write often!

Not that I've been looking at bigger bikes lately, but that seems to be a new Fuel Ex. :whistling: Or is it a remedy? Darn big bikes!

@James H- There's a little friendly back and forth between the hardtail guys and the big bike guys on the forum... I've been on a single speed hardtail for the last year and a half. If I'm now looking at bigger bikes, I may take a little abuse for it... :whistling:

@James H Not sure if I am viewing the shot correctly, but most fork manufacturers warn you not to put more than 30mm of spacer under the stem. looks like you are about right there. Am I seeing that correctly?

That's right. Size XL, definitely a big short travel bike.
