Update Those driving straight to the Palm springs shuttle pickup. We are not going to meet at Vons since the trail finishes about 3 miles up the road. We will meet at Shuttle pick up at the Dennys parking lot at 69050 hywy 111 Cathedral City 92234. And yes pads are a good idea to protect from the cacti and pokey spiny bushes we ride past.
    Tom F. please confirm.

Thanks Mikie will do. Is it mega technical gnar then? Don't want to slow you guys down too much and not up for anything too crazy. How does it compare to say a Mt Pinos that we did or Chilao (which is main reference point for chunky stuff)

The chunk isn't too extreme, but the advice I got my first time was on the money... Everything in the desert wants to bite you, cut you, or stab you.

Just respect the environment and you'll be fine... I did it on a steel hardtail with one gear.

Thanks for the tips guys. Yes Tom all confirmed - will head to Denny's parking lot at Cathedral City, not Vons. Still 7.45 I assume?

    Yep.

Don't sweat the challenging bits, TomF – they are not many, prolonged or very technical. It's all about not getting hurt and not breaking your bike out there. Wifers and I will not be hauling the mail, so there will be people in back you can hang with.

I'm looking to improve my grade with some extra credit on the Hahn Trail loop before Art Johnson. Wife will prolly kick it at the Oasis. Dunn Road back up to the Oasis has some steepness, FYI. We'll see how all's going when we get to the Oasis.

    Looking forward to this! BIKESYEA!!!!!!

Hey Tom, thought I would let you know pretty much mandatory to be tubeless, and try to stay in the middle of the trail with your feet on the peddles, cause everything will get ya.

Fixin to be a north wind along Palm Canyon, Rock Canyon (Death March Wash), and Hahn Buena Vista. Them head winds from the outset are going to be chilly, and the crosswinds through the wash are going to kinda suck. We're going to need the

to get through Hahn Buena Vista!

I'm hoping the wind will be like it was Monday – diminishing on the way down with just a few spots well before the wash feeling like it was pushing you back. In the wash we didn't feel much wind at all. Hoping...

    Windstopper and pads...toasty

Along with a fine team, I gotta give a thumbs up to Mister Art Johnson. He started out unsuspectingly flowy, and kicked in at the end with lots of exposure and challenging looseness. I'll gleefully ride with that dood again.
