In case of a need for “new” trails, Bommer Canyon is open tomorrow open from 8am through 2pm.

    Best loop:

    - go under the 73, do Serrano Ridge
    - before you reach Quail Hill drop left into the first trail “Cattle Crest” ST
    - take a left and climb “Rabbit Run” ST. You will have to walk the boulders ar the start. Or you are superman
    - take a right on Serrano Ridge
    - follow that until you take a right onto “Fox Run” ST. That is steep and loose. Over the handle bar is an option.
    - take a left onto “Shady Oaks” ST
    - the ST dumps you onto a fireroad. Dont go straight or right: go left and climb to Four Corners where you meet Camarillo. Better though to go right and climb to the gate entrance of Hogback Ridge fireroad
    - on top enjoy the view and then take a right on the scenic and easy ST called “Ridge Route”.
Then you are in Bommer Canyon itself. You can climb to Ridge Park or you can add more climbing and do the Turtle Ridge ST, which is always open.

Well neither of these is going to happen so Jennifer and I are going to hop on our road bikes and spin around town. An easy spin on Saturday usually means a great ride on Sunday.

Anything above 10,000' gets really, really difficult for us flatlanders. 14,000 is TOUGH. Take a step. Wheeze for a minute. Take another.

On the other hand, you could just go do some hill repeats on Mt. Whitney!

My son and I were hoping to hike that last summer, but then I had my "summer of poison oak" and had to call it off.

I believe @bigringrider101 has been up there with a bike... And maybe @rossage and @mike? The highest legal location for bike riding in the U.S.

Yeah, I've been up there. I got a 2 for 5 record on attempts. Twice I made it, twice I hit snow, and once it was the wind.
Still, such an amazing place I would recommend giving it a shot.
The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest alone is worth the trip.

    White Mountain Research Center?

The link says that they will open the gate at 6:30 and then close it at 7:30. Looks more like they need some new research subjects to me. I'd stay as far away from there as I can if I were you.

White Mountain Peak: worthy! Taking a bike is a novelty, but it’s a good way to save 15-20 min on the way back.

Open gate day, pff. Just go when conditions are good, it’s not far to the station from the gate. You can bivy right at the gate. Watch for lightning...

Tomorrow, Wed, 7am AM start from Holy Jim parking...

Traction testing on Yeager Mesa. Got off the Maxxis train with 29 x 2.6 Bonty XR4. Expectations high. @Faust29, depending, I might not need that loaner wheel :geek:

Gotta be done by 11am, which means not a super leisurely pace. A fun ride on FS or HT. Patchy fog and sunshine, high in low 60s.

@mtnbikej, thx again for the gear  I’m gonna say that setup will work just fine on Beefy. :)
