I'd like to be riding this tomorrow, but alas, it is not to be. And I don't want to enter and have to worry about cutoffs and competition.

So my friend Scott is out - and he is the one that would hesitate to do some of the tougher stuff (although he has better bike handling skills than all of my usual riding companions and me). It's Kevin G, @Cougar and me. Hopefully @Redman too for a dual Kevin day. Canyon Vistas meeting spot. Haven't landed on a time yet. I'm thinking 8:30.

 

So no dead cow or suicide? Or is that a totally different area? The route you propose is not too techy eh? Was looking for a bit of tech too? The 20 and 3000 sounds good.

 

There are some techy areas. Climbing and descending. Dead Cow is a little west of the actual park and it's a road ride to get back to the park. We can do Dead Cow but it would be better to start at Cheeseboro and if we wanted to add Gas Pipe then it would be a climb back into the park. I think you will enjoy the proposed route. And of course while we are cruising the fire road in we can discuss alternative plans as well.

 

The plan is to ride the other side of the area. Enough tech sections to bring out the smiles between the the other stretches.

I have no idea. I think we'll make it up as we go. No less than 2400' no more than 3300'.

 

Gonna have to stay local guys, sorry. Second ride in as many days I've bailed on, I suck...

Sorry! I ended up having to go a little later, so I rode Backbone kanan to EZ and back. Dirt was great. How was Chesebro?

 

The Cheese was great. Sections of hero dirt here and there and no dust!

 

A little chilly in the beginning and very little dust. Perfect.

 

Did you get a top speed reading for the drop down Ireland?

We hit 34mph on that steep drop on the way into Cheseoboro.

My top speed was there as well. I hit 38. I think Ireland I only hit 34.

 

6:10 tonight 01/23/18 - Parking at W Loma Alta Dr and Chaney Trail and heading up Lower Sam Merrill to Sunset trail and back down the horse trail to the cars.
Look for the other crazy OTB riders if you want to ride with the group. I'll be riding sweep since I get there at 6:35

I only hit 33 mph somewhere. I was quite preoccupied with the view of my riding group stretched out along the undulating ribbon of singletrack ahead of me, so much so that I had to remind myself to look down at the 20 yards in front of me. Good day of riding!
