Getting dark sooner during our ride. The ride was bigger. Temps were cooler. We broke off into groups of beginners/ppl with no lights, and a group of people who were breaking rule #1 (don't follow Josh @Sidewalk).

Josh was on his new Enduro 29 bike. He got us out of our comfort zones by riding Mini Moab in reverse, and he even tried to lead us down the triple drop line (pretty big ones) before that, in the dark. I didn't get to hear or see any reactions to these, but did hear that riding the plunge was much more difficult with only one light. I just know that despite riding only 100-200 meters at a time, the others took minutes to catch up to Josh and me.

    - the infamous intersection where Josh got hit by a car that hit its brakes way too late, about a month back. Josh doing his usual wheelie across it.

    - always changing the route up

    - I took the lead on Vortex and had fun taking the turns as fast as I dared. Was the first bit of singletrack, and I learned within the first 200m that my rebound was only 1 click in from being fully open... my rear was so out of control at the speed I was wanting to go, kicking back and being floaty, leading me to fly off the trail and drift even on the straights.

I personally prefer more damping, both compression and rebound. I did swap my bike with a beginner rider last week (doubt it happened then, as I would've noticed sooner), and there's been visitors in my house too... who knows, but it definitely got me to rein my riding back.

Wait, are you calling us cheap whores? :giggle:

There was one low speed crash. Seemingly rammed his front wheel into a rock on the side of the trail, which was shaped in way that it deflected it to the right, and caused him to get twisted up. He looked alright, and I didn't want to be that guy saying, "Woaaaa, are you alright!?" mere seconds after witnessing the fall. He calmly checked himself and his bike, without worrying about us, and half clipped back in to ride the rest of it, surprisingly keeping it together.

    - oddly, the rock in question is the second clearest/in-focus object in the image. Perhaps the bright helmet is causing the camera's automatic programming to act up?

Oh man... ouch! Catch a pedal on the boulder to the left? Other than crank, everything else (you + bike) ok?

I'm fine. I was too far left entering the boulder, and too fast to make a correction in time (think that is the fastest I have hit it). I tried to correct, but didn't get my hopes up. I thought I was going to be okay until I actually hit and went flying. Bent the pedal, and a friend pointed out that the threads came out with it. The crank arm flexed enough that it gouged the swingarm :)

"Gouged the swingarm" does not sound like a good thing in most situations!

I love riding Sycamore, but I am super slow. That wipeout was impressive.

    That's why I ride a metal bike :)

Our group is multi-speed. Some fast, some slow. We all hang together and take obstacles at our own pace. There are a couple of rules you will want to know about for your own safety, rule #1 being the biggest...

    Thanks, I aim to please!

Are you guys still doing your Thursday night ride? I just switched schedules, and I'm in need of some people to ride with during this time.
