I DIDN'T Ride My Bike Today, Cuzz....

'cuz I was watching over my brother on the poker table from 4am thru 11am and just woke up.

 

Grandson's b-day party today in Murrieta. Wife and I made a weekend of it and stayed at South Coast Winery in Temecula last night.

Reconnecting and basically being a vegetable is good!

 

I had to work.

I'd say that today was the hottest day of the year where I am so far.

 

Yeah. It was 108 in TO yesterday. I want to go back to the beach.

Surfed again... (hike with board 1.5 miles, 150 vertical ft.).

Then took a walk with my wife and kid over to Ruby's in SoLag for lunch. 4 miles. 330 vertical ft.

These stats are rivaling my bike riding stats!

 

Dropped the baby off at the MIL's house for the night and taking my wife out for date night. Part of this included her wanting a pedicure which I obliged.. Had lunch at Karl Strauss and dinner reservations at Flemings.

 

Because it was 3-5' w/a slight so. wind texture and 70 deg water. Walled on the sets with occasional very nice corners to be picked off. A bit drifty, not raging yet.

 

...because I was looking at an item on the super exciting PRIME DAY SALE which was $24.99 and marked down to an exclusive Prime Member price of $17.49. I couldn't wait for the 2-day shipping so I went to Costco and bought the same item for $8.99. Based on a True Story.

I'm a bit tired of Amazon's pricing being like Kohls now. This fresh $1 bill was $18.99 now marked down to $4.99! Only 4 left, order soon!

 

Surfing is so damn fickle! Wind, swell direction, swell height, tide, water temp, wave shape, crowd - they all have to be just right or it's just frustrating (for me). I don't want a wave pool, I just wanna get 6-8 decent waves in a session. Decent to me is a drop, bottom turn and at least two solid turns. Low standards! Of course, it would help if I put in the time to get the paddle strength to get the waves.

 

Sometimes it only comes together for a magical 45 min. and if you aren't there, in the water, you probably miss it and think it was another crappy day.

 

Oh joy - I am now juror #4 on an 18-day civil case. Second day of jury selection. I made it to 4:00 pm before I was plopped in as an alternate. Then the judge excuses two of the alternates ahead of me, and Plaintiff's attorney plucks two more off the jury. There goes any hope of some time off this summer.

I am convinced the courts love educators. We have civic training, a sense of duty to the community, summers off (for teachers) and employers who continue to pay our salary whether we are there or not. I've been called twice, and empaneled twice. I can't get myself to lie under oath, so I can't make up untrue stories of hardship or prejudice.

Oh well - such is the price of living in the best experimental democracy in the world (?).

 

Popped a rib last week out in the surf and have been mostly off the bike. Tried riding a bit of rough stuff Sun and regretted it. Been using the time to do all the stuff needed to make the move to the new digs less onerous. Ribs suck.

 

Maybe if you tell us all about the case, you'll get the boot..?

 

Case was settled. Jury excused yesterday! Yay!

 

Because I have been busy packing for 2 weeks RV camping in Santa Cruz redwoods.

 

72 degree water. A bit of swell lingering. Sneak away from the office at 5. New board in car. No wind. Life is good.

 

yesterday on my way home early from work to sneak in a ride, and work called. Ended up working late and no ride.

Today, sneaking out early to get in a ride, work called again today...oh well no ride, it's friday I'm going to have a good dinner and flop. So not all bad.

4AM today, I wake-up, sad that it's Monday, going through the pros/cons of calling-in and staying home to sleep more. I showered, dressed, started driving to work. I'm listening to my podcasts, wondering why traffic is so light on the 5. I hit the 91 towards Fully and get to the Harbor blvd. exit, I'm thinking "How is it that both the 5 and the 91 are soo empty." I touched the calendar icon on my phone and it's F#CKING SUNDAY!!!!!

 

I'm almost afraid to like that post.

 

So since you were up early did you hurry home & go riding? Edit...Never mind just realized what thread this was posted in.

 

No, it's fine, the 15 minute LOL that my wife had at my expense was worth it.

No, because only a smart, healthy individual would make a choice like that. I chose to lay on the couch watching unsolved mysteries.

 

I went to work one day. Sat in the normal traffic wishing I had the day off. When I got there I threw my backpack in the cab of my package car and looked back and thought WTF? Way too much work! This is ridiculous! Well I marched my way into the office to voice my concern, (bitch about my load), and before I could get a word out my supervisor asked what I was doing there. Turns out I had a scheduled day off that wasn't on my calendar. He then asked if I wanted to work. I laughed all the way home.

I ran (well, sort of a jog-ish thing) a couple miles. I keep telling myself it's good for me on the days riding is not practical.

 

This is priceless...you're one fine employee, S9B! I would sleep in on a weekday thinking it was Sunday.

CUZ: It's a rest day. I know, some of you movers and shakers do not know what that is. I may hit WalMart to look at bikes.

 

I'm a bike snob. I'm headed for Super Target.

 

I vote for a Walmart bike vs. Kmart bike trail riding competition.

 

Raced my dirt bike this past Sunday for the first time since early April, still feeling sore. You know you're worked when you have to 'fall' onto the toilet after a day of racing. Haha.
