First and foremost I sincerely hope I am the only contributor to this thread. This isn't the one y'all want to be posting in.

Rode some big boy trails up in the Gabes today with @Mikie and his buddy/coworker @MTP023 . Love to blame it on my recently serviced malfunctioning Pike fork that is only getting 110ish mm of it's 140mm travel but I just cant. Fact is I just ran out of talent on a big rock drop/roller thing and went seriously OTB and landed on my head while my bike landed somewhere else. Thankfully it was just in a normal giant rock roller garden and not where there was some major exposure 100+ foot drops like where there is pretty much everywhere else on these trails or I woulda died. Couldn't fully regain composure after this and cut my ride somewhat short and bailed on El Prieto which is a crime. Pretty much all I got unless one of the other guys posts up a real RR.

Sucks cuzz I really liked this helmet. Coulda been way worse tho...

I've crashed three times on my last two MTB rides. Nothing major but I'm still sore. By the looks of your helmet you took a hard fall. Glad you're okay @Voodoo Tom.

Oh that's another story... Got back to the truck way before the boys that didn't bump their heads and take the bailout.Rather than walking in circles I decided to send a photo of my helmet to my wife. Lets just say that was a bad idea...:Roflmao

At least the helmet did its job, and you have survived to ride another day. Tell her it was but a flesh wound. :whistling:

I am soooo glad you do not have a serious concussion - although showing the photo to your wife indicates some cloudy judgment.

Bell will give you substantial replacement value for your exchange, BTW. And if not them, Kali might give you a free helmet for a trade in.

    Bell Replacement Program click here.

Troy Lee gave me 30% off a replacement in exchange for my crash-damaged A1.

I just went two for two. Head first off the exposure and almost made it to the lower switchback. Oh yeah I was climbing and had just started again and dropped the front wheel off the side, the sucker took me down with it. This would not have happened on the 29
Happy lucky I skipped Friday trails

I can honestly say I've never landed on my head due to mountain biking. However, I destroyed a Bell full-face motorcycle helmet by taking a cloverleaf onramp on my XS-1100 at 70 mph...and running over a Pinto gas cap in the process. That did not end well. :gag:

The visor disappeared and the entire right side of the helmet was scraped down to the underlying fiberglass. Cracked the chin panel too. But nothing broken, nothing permanent, just a nasty case of road rash. Glad you were as lucky.

    Here's to continuing luck!!;)

First glad your ok, head landings are scary don't be surprised if you are sore tomorrow next day along neck / back etc.

And Yeah you'll probably have the yips for a bit.

And Yeah that helmet must of liked you a lot
too... It gave it's life to save your brain.

Always hard to have those talks with the wife... But for me.. she has been my ambulance driver more than once ... Although it was turn about when she sliced her hand and I was sitting there watching when she got stitched up.
