Not sure how you can get injured so bad you need to be airlifted on Coyote trail. Of all the trails in Aliso, that's one of the most mild ones!

    Hopefully they recover quickly.

Most of my crashes, which seems to be more frequent lately btw!!....are usually in the most tame trails. I think it's because I let my guard down knowing that it is not a very dangerous trail.

Hope the dude heals up quick!

Not sure if they got the trail right, but like others have said, it doesn't take a tough trail to have a bad crash. I've seen more than a few people hit the turf on Coyote at a simple deep dip in the trail. It's a trail that introduces people to singletrack (like the Fully Loop). Hope this cowboy heals quickly and gets back on his horse.

Take your eye off the ball at 20 mph and it doesn't matter how tame the trail is. Hitting the ground at that speed is no bueno and could easily result in a whoppity-copter ride.

Can't go 20 on Coyote, but falling at 10 can hurt a lot too!

    Healing vibes.

Is it me or is every other mountain biker getting hurt this year? Are you guys seeing more riders than least year down there in da OC? It seems about the same up here in my neck of the woods.

I don't think there are proportionally more injuries or more serious injuries, but I have seen an increase in the use of helicopters to extract riders who are not necessarily at risk of the loss of life or limb. Perhaps local authorities have decided it's easier, faster and less risky (physical and liability) to just pluck them out rather than hike people out on a litter.

I think part of using helo's more might be budget and bureaucracy related.
If they don't use the toys and justify their existence, then they can't have them.
What used to be a bad walk or maybe a litter ride is now a mule or helo ride.

    Healing to the downed rider.

My buddy was first on scene and thought it best to report the trail as Coyote to authorities. As you guys know...Some trails are "Not Yet Legal"

My understanding is the fire dept is a no-change response and the sheriffs bill you.
Given that, why would anyone ask for the Sheriffs response? And Sheriffs looking for infractions to cite...a double whammy...

If I'm mistaken on the fees you can correct me.
