    Oh, wait.....no Santa Ana's for me this weekend.

    It's a good route.....painful, but good. 2nd time down Motorway in 1 ride is stellar.

    I thought I might find another willing volunteer or two with all of the long events coming up. Or, I'll head out solo... Either way.

  4. For a fat guy, what is easier climbing, blackstar-motorway or maple motorway?

    From top of MS to Motorway you gain 1,100 feet.

    From top of B* to Motorway you gain about 1,900 (I think).

    I agree with the others... The total elevation gained isn't all that different- 3600 for the Maple Springs loop, and 4,200 for Black Star to Motorway. With Black Star, though, it's basically 13 miles of sustained climbing before you get a break, and then 5 more miles of up and down across Main Divide. The section of Main Divide between Black Star and Motorway also has three climbs that I can't/won't clean on the single speed. Maple route only has 1... And I've cleaned that one at times.

    I really enjoy the Maple-Motorway loop... After 7.5 miles, you get some up and down on Main Divide, which is semi-chunky right now.

    If anyone wants to come out for one loop or the other, feel free... We can arrange times.

    I think you'd enjoy the route. That section of Main Divide can be fun... And you've already seen the hardest part up to Hagador. It gets easier after that point.

    I sort of enjoy pushing my bike up the wall. I'll admit, it's an acquired taste. Sort of like eating Surströmming...

    Yummy!

    My favorite stretch of trail in the OC is main divide between blackstar and motorway. Something about it every time I make the traverse across has me in aw.

    So I purchased a Sunday hall pass for a surprisingly cheap price.

    All I have to do is go to a Frankie Avalon concert in Cerritos Saturday night. The wife is doing report cards Sunday.

    I'm in for B*/Mway! :geek::thumbsup:;)

    The forecast for Sunday looks a little toasty up there. It will probably affect the pace and fluid intake, at least for me! As I'm starting from the Maple Springs gate, or close to it, I'll have a chest with water and ice for the refill after lap 1. Cold drinks are a luxury up there!

    Torture?? You gotta love Frankie. Or at least respect the longevity. :unsure::whistling:

    And B* to Motorway is in no way torture. It's hillclimbing at near its best. :thumbsup:

    I hope to be at MS gate at roll time. If I'm not there don't wait. I'll be at the tree farm in that case.
