    LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (KABC) --
A wind-driven brush fire spread to 50 acres in south Orange County on Saturday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of Laguna Beach's Top of the World neighborhood amid a response from at least 200 firefighters, officials said.

The so-called Aliso Fire was burning in heavy brush in Wood Canyon, located behind Aliso Viejo's Soka University of America, an Orange County Fire Authority spokesperson tweeted at 1:46 p.m.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or structural damage.

I was out and about with the family when this broke out. We got turned away at Laguna Regional Park gates due to the fire. When I saw the cloud, I knew it was Aliso. I don't know exactly where yet where it started, but it's anywhere between Soka and old Top of the World. Thus, trails threatened are anything from 5 Oaks, Wood Canyon, Dripping Cave, Mathis, Coyote, Meadows, Car Wreck, etc.

50 acres, 200 fighters. I saw at least three helos doing getting water at the lake.

Looks like Kindergarden area from that.

Looks like its near dipping cave/Mathis. Climbing up the hill towards the backside of Soka Univ. 4 Heli's and 3 planes dropping water. Using the area off of Wood Canyon where the extra jump trails are located as a water filling area for the Heli's.

This is the first "1 acre" pic I could find. At first that looked like the top of Meadows (location of photographer)... but I don't think so.

The trail intersection at lower left in middle of smoke plume is intersection of Mathis and wood canyon, I’m pretty sure. Mathsis leading away to right, dripping cave behind smoke and nestalls and birthday visible up above, looks like
Edit: south end of dripping cave

Listening to the command feed now (https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/23313/web) they just called in more strike teams and two dozers.

Specifically: 2 additional type 3 engine strike teams (10 engines) along w/ additional hand crews & dozers from Cal Fire.

Correcting myself, that intersection is intersection of woods and south end of dripping cave.

Scanner is reporting that a big fire is burning in a ravine near/above Dripping Cave (trail?).

They just reported on the scanner that the fire started about 400 yards towards the ocean from the Mathis / Dripping Cave intersection (there's some confusion on the part of the firefighters as they aren't that familiar with the trails)

Nope. Watching the live feed it's burning up Smoothies trail, but pretty far away from Car Wreck. They just dropped retardant on the west edge of the fireline and it's working.

Prevailing wind is towards the southeast, and fortunately, fairly calm.

UPDATE (5:30 pm) - it has clearly crossed Wood Canyon fire road and is climbing towards Soka. Looks like it's only 100 yards from one of the main SOKA buildings.

Was it windy out there today? While warm, it's coastal, so wonder how it jumped so big, so quickly.

    I really hate seeing this.

One possible plus? The original park plan, if I remember correctly, was that Nestalls was listed as a trail to be developed/legitimized. If true, maybe this will give them a chance to open it up.
