    I just don't know where..

Actually, I'm planning to split my time between Meadows (Aliso), the Luge (CNF) and Cactus (in Whiting). It'll be trail work triage, focusing mostly on brake bump smoothing.

Friday and Saturday could get rained out, but I'll try to be ready. Sunday looks stellar at this point. I'll post up here as plans are firmed up.

If you ride these trails and want to help out, post up here and I'll keep you in the loop.

Thanks and hope to see you out there!

Dang! Is it March already!?! Talk about not showing up! And where's that rain been? It's messin' with my head.

Well, right, no time machine. Can I get a refund on my DeLorean?

OK, new thread title ("Help @Mikie!")

"There Was Trail Work on March 2nd thru 4th." Ha! j/k It's not too late to help out! It'll actually be tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, whenever that is.

TIA for the work, Jim. Moving dirt around is way more important than knowing what month it is! Cheers, buddy.

February must have Shimano brakes. @kioti must have SRAM. :sneaky:

If I can get my delinquent school-work done on Saturday, I will be in for de-brake-bumping on Sunday, weather permitting.

Perhaps we should visit the weather thread to see if...

...anyone else has a story of learning to drive! :Roflmao :D:eek:

My calendar needs a bigger rotor?

If it's not raining, I'm hoping to work on Cactus in the morning. Waiting to hear back from the SHARE rep or the Ranger. Failing that, I'll head over to the Luge.

Saturday's looking like a Hill St Cafe day.

Sunday sounds good for de-brake-bumping. Trail to be decided.. leaning toward Meadows. You're help is always appreciated!

@herzalot, this thread is pre-derailed, courtesy of the OP. But please, talk about anything you like. Personally, I'm wondering about a certain BS/MW/MS Saturday ride. And thinking Sunday might be the day.

Ended up swinging a pick on the Luge in the morning/ Meadows in the afternoon. I think two trails in one day is a first for me. It was dry all day, and then sometime after 4:00 I saw a wall of what looked like smoke spread across the whole of Orange County, from the coastal mountains to Saddleback peak. A little while later it started sprinkling so I loaded up and rolled out of Aliso.

But can we count on B* tomorrow for conditions sufficient to reach Main Divide? Or must we endure Maple Springs? Or better yet...Harding? Inquiring minds want to know.

Harding is fine in the rain. The bottom 1/4 mile gets a little soft, but it is still ridable....you aren't gonna do any damage.

Blackstar will be a no go....maybe not til Monday.

Thanks for asking, Brett. Tomorrow's looking to have great digging conditions, and I'm leaning toward something on Meadows or the Luge. Was there anything you had in mind?

Meadows only really needs some love on the first big right hander and a couple of other spots. Lynx is a brake bump bonanza from about halfway down until the dirt dip towards the bottom. The top 100 yards of Five Oaks after the culvert jump rivals the man-made Olympic mogul field. That said, I don't know how we/you get clearance to work on anything other than Meadows (for which you have been pre-approved).

The first big right hander on Meadows was 'handled' yesterday, on my afternoon session. It's not perfect, but better.

Hawk trail in Santiago Oaks could us some love. Do you have clearance to do work in that park? There is a HUGE ride around at the large rock drop. Every time I go down that trail it seems like there are more and more lines. Currently I’d say, at its widest it is 20’ easy. With at least 4 different lines. Can we get this trail some love?

This is the current trend everywhere. So many riders, so little understanding of trail stewardship and riding etiquette. All amplified by social media.

Grrrrrrrrr.....you kids get off my lawn!

I've got a full plate and unfortunately SO isn't on it. AFAIK, Jon Kearley of Non-Dot and SHARE handle things over there. I'll forward your request to Jon and see what he says.

Good luck, Kevin. I don't mind ride-arounds if they're subtle, but that sounds like a mess. My buddy and I cleaned up a drop/roller combo on the luge yesterday and kept it all within normal trail width. Got another one higher up with 3 options.

I ended up going to Aliso to work on Lynx and with LCF Mike and a guy named Tyler. Mike is still nearly incomprehensible to me. I just bring the dirt where he wants it, or take the dirt out of where he doesn't want it - unless I feel it will harm the trail, then I try to talk him out of it. He will work for hours on 30 yards of trail. He is proud of his work though.

After a while, I went rogue and scraped off the braking bumps and filled the ruts at the bottom (about 100 yards of trail). It's BTIW (better than it was), but a hard rain will dig the rut right back out. No rain and the braking bumps will return quickly. Luckily, it has been drizzling off and on, which should be perfect for tamping down the dirt without creating a lot of runoff.

And I worked on the bottom section of the Luge with another friend of mine. I eliminated a drain and if it keeps raining there's going to be a puddle, but I went for ride quality. If it becomes a problem I might try a grate drain and pipe.

I got an email from the new ranger at Whiting and he's up for walking Cactus with me and discussing solutions. Would you guys (@herzalot and @littlewave) mind if we work on Meadows another day? I haven't met him yet and want to see if Cactus can be cleaned up while we have good digging conditions.

It's killing me Brett, but "rain check" on the breakfast burrito?

No worries, burritos still on the table for next time.

So now the question is, anyone else digging manana. @herzalot ? More lynx work?
