Post Your Ride

Mine was Bassboat blue too, until it flaked off. It was all grey underneath. I just flaked the rest off and took the decals that came off with the blue coat and just reapplied them. Underneath the paint was a Yeti-made frame, which was what made it a real bike that I kept for nearly a decade and put well over 15k miles on. Some trails I was riding needed real brakes for riding down often wet trails, and that's what got me to shop for a modern bike. The guy who bought it from me picked up the mtb bug seriously hardcore. He went from blacksmithing to mtn bike frame building (starting as an apprentice under Carl at Vicious Cycles), racing, single speeding, traveling cross country on mtb tours, and more. I rode with him for one season and haven't talked with him since, but have been following his FB updates. Haven't checked out what he's been up to in a while, but it appears he's just getting himself deeper into what he's been doing, even getting lessons from legends like Frank the Welder.

Okay, here's the one I've got over 2,500 miles on. Eventually I'll have a pic of the new one to share.

 

2011 Trance 26". Most plush suspension. Fox rp23, Rockshox Revelation, 3x9 drivetrain, Bionicon chain guide, Hilo dropper.
Not bad for my #2 bike. Still a hoot to ride.

There's a sub forum called "How To". I think I learned it from a post in there, which explains it way better than I could.

 

Mikie gives a quick explanation in the first post of this thread...

I think the file size limit is 3 MB. I usually have to shrink my pics before I upload.

I sure do wish I had pics of my custom painted baby blue schwinn from my childhood and my Little John-Murphy from my early teenage days to share here.

 

My 2012 Rockhopper 29 (XXL/23.5), has served me well so far. Would love a new fork and dropper, new rims...but by that point I feel like I am better saving for a new bike.

 

Good strategy – a spare is good.

 

My ProCaliber 9.6....straight off the shelf except for some different grips and a bar with a bit more rise. I just sold my FS Trek Fuel and decided on a hardtail...so far, very happy with my decision.
